Michelin Tyres Prices

started this off in the general section but thought as I have an Avensis I would drop it in here for a day or two .

Just thought I would let you all know what a good price Costco are selling tyres at .

If you have a Costco locally they are well worth a visit .

Just bought two tyres for my Avensis all in including balancing , valves casing disposal and moving front tyres to rear etc and cost was £115 .

If I had bought all four they would have reduced price by 20%

i.e. £230 -£46 = £184 FOR 4 TYRES .

Comparing this to National Tyres who quoted me £198 for 2.

To make things even better Costco are running a Michelin promotion £10 off per tyre cash back which knocks the price down to £144 .

Costco costs around £25 a year to join and is similar to Makro .

Check the web for details of branches.

The only downside was a 2 hr wait due to the queue [ taxi drivers buying 4 tyres].

But each warehouse has a coffee shop .....offer ends this weekend .

Hope this helps someone save some cash.

New tires should always be placed at the rear! Why?

The time when the grip iof the car is most crital is during braking that's when you need the grip at the back. This is especialy noticable during cornering.

The reason you have the best tyres on back is because when the car starts to lose grip and slides, it always slides from the back, so if you have already lost grip and the front and the worst tyres are on the back you will continue to slide or even worse it's possible to spin in extreme cases, but if you have the best tyres on the back then the rear has a better chance of holding itself in line.

There was a few tests shown on Driven to prove this, and if you go on a course in one of those slide frame things they show you then why it's more important to have the best tyres on the back.

  • 2 weeks later...

I finally got to Costco on saturday - It was jammed full!!

I bought 4 x michelin pilot exalto 205/55 ZR 16 91 at a cost of £322

just one prob tho, They couldn't fit em till sunday :(

ended up getting a place in uxbridge to fit em for £60

so total cost £382 all in - Think I saved about £30-£40 as I paid to get them fitted elsewhere

I don't think I'll ever go to a costco on a weekend again  Too many people!!
