and for christs sake!

"I will remember to keep my son off the streets while your on the road.. sorry i meant to say while your a liability!"

lol!! since when do i drive down there? on my way to the local shop? you make it sound like a drive like a headcase or im an accident waiting to happen, just because i havent declared things such as tint!! tbh, when my dad rung the insurance company about the alloys, they said no problem, we arent really bothered, only if you have performance enhancing modifications!!!!!

====

"either sort your insurance out, or stop driving "

why attack me? im sure theres alot more people on this forum who have mods which they havent declared! especially those who have performance ones! never seen any of you verbally attacking them have i now!

alot of people have said they have backboxs but all they said to their insurance companies that it was for purely aesthetic purposes only! and what about those people who have induction kits who take them off when it comes to MOTs???

sod the exhaust trim i dont want to be laughed at <_<

have you read this thread properly?

declare all your mods mate - driving without insurance (which is what you are effectively doing) is one of the worst things you can do.

do the right thing mate

mate, you can change your headunit, and have a crash and insurance will say look, you had a new headunit, we aint paying..

They can do this as its part of the contract to keep them up-to-date, if not, youv breach that contract.

Im not aiming this to you breezer, but to everyone! Nothing worst than paying 1,000 for insurance. and then having it voided by not taking 5 mins to decalre all you mods...

Cheers

Matt

My mate crashed. He hadn't declared his exhaust or SP30. They asked him if he had made any changes or had any offences. He told em about the exhaust and the SP30 and they didn't say anything.

This was Norwich Union by the way.

As for me, I've declared everything.

some people are so hypocritical.

who is being hypocritical?

which person who has posted in this thread, arguing that mods should be declared, has undeclared modifications?

As I said - when I had my IS, I even declared the fact that I had painted my calipers.

New car has no modifications - so have had nothing to declare.

I agree that most exterior MODs need to be decared as well as tuning.

But what if you done loads of interior work? Why would they care? "O i changed my gear knob" "i have a sub which no1 can see"

As far as my insurance company know (its Churchill actually!) my car is standard, but its got lexus clusters (Legal, fully E Marked, so whats the problem?) 15" alloys (would fone em, but they will say sorry cnt do that, and its like yeh but I've got em so sort it!) and thats bout it.

isnt tinting interior ;)

I didnt start anything, all i simply said was that only thing i declared was my alloys! At the start of the night i didnt kno things such as exhaust trims had to be declared. Theyre cheap mods.

What happened to those complaining last week that TOC is a friendly environment. If people were so bothered then they could have PM'd me and gave me some advice instead of acting angrily!

ps. my mate didnt declare his tint and he crashed his car on insurance and claimed!

haha yeah i think  confused you see.....read on!!! right my dad insured me when i was 17, and learning to drive, they had no problem!

as soon as i passed my test and insurance renewal was here, they told my dad they couldnt insure me because i had to be 21!!

so dad came and told me! and had a go at them on the phone asking why they insured me when i was learning to drive, and now that id passed my test they wouldnt insure me, because it made no sense, then they eventually let me get insured and apologised! canny geezers!

it costs my bro £850 a year on his 1.2 corsa, hes 23! costs my dad £220 a year on 1L yaris, hes 54, and costs me £330 a year on 1L yaris as secondary driver ;) although i have the car 99.9% of the time! because dad cannot be bothered, so i do all the taxi work for mam/dad etc!! and i usually drive when dad wants to go somewhere, saves him the hassle!

surely im more hazardous when learning to drive because i havent passed my test? surely passing my test and having a license makes sense that they would insure me no hassle!!

thing is though my bro is self insured and he got that when he was 20! and thats below 21! hes 23 now!

Churchill also said that a CAT1 alarm won't make any different to my premium :ffs:

Also, i bought my yaris with non-standard 15s on. my dad sorted out the insurance but im guesing that it might be void if they dont accept modifications.

I think its time for me to change companies

OK guys - look at this way.

How would you feel if your car was crashed into by someone who didn't have insurance?

I dont think people are trying to attack or pick on you, people are trying to help you and give you advice!

you say in your defence that you are not going to declare "cheap mods" such as pipe trim! but will declare other mods!

why risk this when it more than likely isnt going to cost you anything!

and insurance companies will try and get out of paying out to you as much as they can as its in their interest!

I have a standard YSR but will be upgrading to an YTS and will declare all mods otherwise insurance will be a waste of money!

The way I see only a few things are worth delaring, otherwise you could be phoning your insurance company 2 or 3x a month.

Engine Tuning.

alloys.

Suspension.

Bodywork.

Lighting (if its major, nothing like changing side repeaters).

Major interior changes (sport seats, upgraded Speakers which are on show etc)

Otherwise I fail to see what point their is. The reason insurance companies need to know about MODs is cause it makes your car more desirable to steal, and increases its value, so why state very small/minor things which wouldn't change or influence these 2 factors?

Breezer, being named as the secondary driver when you drive the car 99.9% of the time is a dangerous and illegal game.

If you should have an accident the insurance investigators would make enquiries and find out that you were in fact the main driver.

This would effectively make your insurance null and void.

To be effectively insured you must not withhold ANY detail from the insurers.

My advice to you is not to try to do it on the cheap, get your own insurance and build up your own no claims bonus. Then if you are unfortunate enough to have an accident you will be fully covered.

I am not preaching to you,....just trying to offer some good advice that could save you an awful lot of hassle in the long term.

well - personally i would say thats proof that we were right - you never know when your going to have an accident - and just be grateful it wasnt worse - which would've meant the inspectors came out ;)
