Fitting El Glow Dials...

Just read through the instructions and it looks pretty straight forward.

Only thing I'm unsure about is where to get a 12v feed from. It says you must find a 12v supply which comes on when you turn the lights on.

Anyone got any ideas??

dont all the dash lights run on 12v?

Posted

If you cant find one.. take a lead from your side lights.

Posted

Jim you can run it from your cig lighter light. But make sure you put a inline fuse on other wise you will end up like me needing anew inverter :crybaby:

Posted

inline fuse ?... what rating etc?

Posted

You cant use the lighter if your going to use it as your start button.

Can you?

Posted

erm...... dunno.

The power etc from the start button comes from the ignition side of the car as opposed to where the lighter is.... I think

just checked... all the wired for the starter come from the ignition harness.

Posted

True... Then i'd also say use the lighter feed.

not sure about the fuse rating though

it's cool Roytoner gimme his mobile # ... gonna buzz him in a min.

Come on matey, it ain't that hard to find a live feed that comes on when you turn your lights on init. Just tap into the feed from the dash/gauge power circuit init. Find the live wire that comes live when you turn the lights on. Theres only one!!

nearly there !!

Cheers for the help roytoner.

Got it wired in... tested the dials, they work fine.

The inverter makes loud bluddy noises though!!! ... different pitched buzzing depending on what colour etc.

Now I just have to secure the dials in place ( glue! ), then put the car back together before it gets dark.

Better get the finger out then mate :D

Posted

lol

All sorted now and they look amazing when on!!

Quite impressed with me handy work. Drove about for 40mins or so... no smell of glue... lol

Posted

Well done mate, good to hear your still alive.

Wheres the pics?

Glue :help:

lol....

having the lights in or out didn't seem to make any difference mate. Probably would though if you removed the original dials first. I just stuck these over the originals.
