Hi all,

I have compiled an In-Depth fitting guide to a Stealth Installation of a Sony CDX-T70MX 6 CD MP3 Multichanger to a Standard Toyota Yaris Cassette Headunit.

This guide features step-by-step photos and concise tips how to carry out this installation yourself :-

TOYOTA YARIS CD MP3 MULTICHANGER INSTALLATION GUIDE

I look forward to all your feedback.

Regards

Fred.

Very nice write up and gorgous pics (what camera did you use ;)

I also like the way you left the connect2 interface hanging out of the dash...

I also did this not simply because of the ugly cosmetic feel to it but to just use the connects2 as an aux in.....

However I later realized that it was extremely beneficial to leave the interface hanging out like that.....

WHY ?

Hmmm occasionally the connects2 would hang : No sounds no nothing !

:ffs:

Resolution unplug and plug in the bus cable......

As I say having had this setup it's best to just a sony HU to go with the changer.... All is perfect no lock ups and reading cds from the CDs is faster than with the connects2...

Anyone want to buy a connects2 ? Damn I wouldnt sell it to my worst enemy.

Thanks to you all for your kind comments with regards to my instruction guide.

The photos were taken with my Canon EOS 300D Digital SLR  and really turned out rather well

I have had this setup running for a couple of weeks now, and have seen NO PROBLEMS whatsoever with the connects2 unit - it's MADE for this autochanger!!!

So far there's been 75 odd views, and only 3 folks have commented - so come on - let me hear your comments!!!

Many thanks,

Fred

PS - I also think that jaxx should put this in the stickie's up the top!

Wicked writeup!!

Very interesting to know you can get an aux-in for the yaris!!

Your connects2 box said for sony autochangers though didnt it?

Would I be able to plug the RCA's from my dvd player into one of these? As the fm modulator thing is ok but is not 100% clear! <_<

Also wheres the cheapest place to buy one of these!? :D

Cheers,

Matt

Very good write up there mate

Quick question, are you using the Tape : CD button on the original headunit to change between your tape player and cd multichanger. I have both tape and cd player would it be possible to leave both operational aswell as a multichanger?

Thanks again guys,

I'll answer these few questions :-

MillzE - "Would I be able to plug the RCA's from my dvd player into one of these? As the fm modulator thing is ok but is not 100% clear!

Also wheres the cheapest place to buy one of these!?"

I dont see why you can't just use the RCAs - but I would email the folks at www.connects2.com first! - have a look at their website - they do lots of other cool stuff (phone adaptors etc!). Halfords near me sell them, or you can order from the connects2 website (£60 approx - and well worth it!)

Robie - "Quick question, are you using the Tape : CD button on the original headunit to change between your tape player and cd multichanger. I have both tape and cd player would it be possible to leave both operational aswell as a multichanger?"

I am using the Tape/CD button to tell the original headunit that I want to use the autochanger. I am not too sure how you have your tape/cd units configured - but I guess if the socket on the rear of your cassette headunit is not utilised by your cd player, then you could also add a connects2 device as per my guide - by simply exchanging the existing tape lead in the rear of the unit with the connects2 lead and plugging the original lead into the back of the connects2 unit.

Thanks again for your feedback, and I shall try to answer any more questions that crop up

cheers

Fred

What is the advantage of using Connect2 unit over just just waking plugs in back? Not done yet but keep thinking about doing.

Also how did you connect changer to the draw?

Hi Si,

There are no fittings for the multichanger to fit into the back of the STD casette headunit - the only multichanger that will fit is the std Toyota one (£500 ish - correct me if I am wrong here). Also the connects2 unit decodes the display data from the headunit, and routes this info to your in-dash display (as shown in my photos)

I connected the changer to the drawer using industrial-strength double sided sticky-pad on a roll (many stripes) - after testing the combination out thoroughly first.

Hi Fred,

Just a quick question. Do the names of the mp3s show up on the yaris screen or do you just get the disk - track number?

Thanks,

Neil

I haven't really read this whole thread but here we go:

Great guide! Actually making me consider it!

Question: I have the factory CD player unit. So... I'm guessing the Tape/CD button will switch between autochanger and regular CD?

Thanks for the kind comments m8 ;)

I don't work for connects2 at all - I was just so impressed with the product, and also I trawled this forum and numerous websites for such a solution - which took a while. I wanted to give something back to this excellent forum!

Cheers,

Fred

fred

go to the workshop submissions forum...

start a new topic with the same name as this one...

literally copy your first post into there again...

this way itll be in the techy archive, and under your own name as the 'author' as you dsereve the credit for this!!! top job!

i could shift this topic but its a nice idea to leave it here momentarilly for all to see and its not really a STICKY thread.

i will however then link it back to the HOW TO sticky at the top of the forum

send me a PM as soon as you have done it or let me know if youve got any probs sorting it

Hi,

Thanks a lot for your very well done document.

I have succeeded in removing ALL the dash things but I cannot pull the K7 player ..

It is coming a bit and then when I try to pull it out it seems that some wires are retaining it.. Maybe a wire for the cigaret lighter ?

You wrote :

The Cassette unit is now ready to be removed.

Hold the 2 sides of it and pull - the unit shall slide out after a bit of persuasion! :-

-> I can't ... Any idea ?

Thanks

Hi Anthokr,

it is a very tight fit =- so expect a large amount of persuasion!

if on the other hand it feels free, but held back by a wire liek you say - perhaps theres some cable-tying going on there, to neaten up cables etc ? If the car yours from new ?

the lower shroud can be removed - so try this, and look upwards with a torch!

good luck!

cheers

hi again anthokr,

Mine wasnt new - however the person who originally owned it from new only did 20,000 miles in it and left the car completely unchanged / unaltered - so mine is as it left the factory with regards to the removal of the components.

Drop a line back here, and let us know your progress!

good luck!

cheers

PS - what are you fitting to your car ? - a headunit, or a mp3 multichanger like mine ? :)
