Supra Vs Gt4

After owning a modded 300bhp ST205 and now an almost stock 330bhp Supra TT i can safely say the Supra TT

In the wet though the Supra would have to be driven by a Pro to keep up with a GT4 in the corners

I have to disagree here just a little.

It all depends on which model Supra.

On the 1/4 mile a Standard AUTO Supra TT would not beat a standard GT-4 (last series) The Manual 6 Speed Supra might be in with a chance.

On a rolling launch any Supra TT from 60 will annihiate the GT-4. Going around a Circuit then its all depending on who is behind the wheel.

I like the Supra for the Top End speed, but for me the GT-4 will out shoot the Supra!

 WTF are you going on about?

The stock GT4 is NOT a match for a stock Supra TT on the quarter no way no matter no how. Regardless of Gearbox.

Even the lower powered J-Spec vehicles it will be a simple win.

Move from stock onto modified and the gap between the two cars is even greater as the 2JZ has just too much over the 3S.

Just does not have the power to match the Supra. Sure the GT4 can get better traction but once the Supra's 2nd turbo comes on its all over :arrgg-matey:

I have a background of tuning up the ST205 and have now moved onto the JZA80 and there is a BIG diffrence.

Sorry if i sound a little strong on this but IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOUR ON ABOUT DONT SPEAK :thumbsup:

Unless it wasa loose sand 1/4 mile per chance????

The word "supra" is jap for pinicle, or ultimate hight", it started out froma "celica supra" the Supra being the ultimate top end of the celica (back in the days where celicas had the engine the right way round, and were driven by the correct wheels...)

The two models then split, the celica taking the route of many a budget car (laterally mounted engine, FWD), where the Supra, without the limitation of being based on a celica, went on to do its own thing. (and lo we were blessed with the mk3, compare that to a ST-162, my point will come accros nicely :P)

The GT4 is souped up celica, wang a turbo on and make it 4x4.. just like scopopbys and evos, the supra car is a performance car in its own right

One other thing.. Unlike fast and furious makes out, life does not consist of many quartermiles at a time..........

P.S. "Hedgehog Dodger" have you actually owned a GT-4 and a supra TT, like Leeky???

Hedgehog Dodger, For someone who says : :bookworm:

"To my knowledge Zeni Tani is a Japanese Tuner who builds Skylines ranging from 450PS to 900PS and normally for drifting. This vehicle has been built for straight line speed, and to me, thats what its all about!"

How on earth do you believe that the Supra would be outgunned?

Have you ever driven one?

If your only interested in straight line speed, buy a Nova for everyday use and take up dragsters

WOW WOW WOW.....lots of testosterone flying around here isnt there.....first off I wont be the first one to say that a 300HP Celica GT4 cant be safely beaten by a stock Supra TT.

A 300HP MR2 Turbo would annihiate a Stock Supra TT on the 1/4, with the MR2 probably clocking a low 13 time and the Supra a high 13/low 14 time.

Now basing this info on the GT4, which shares the same engine as the MR2, with the consideration of greater transmission losses witht he 4WD then I would say that the 300HP GT-4 would beat a Stock Supra TT.

I have owned a GT-4 very breifly....bought it in Japan and it got written off on the way to the docks! <_<

And Midnight Supra......well......I dont think your response deserves to be acknowledged!

:D

I am not trying to start a debate here, just this its kind of difficult for a stock Supra TT to beat a 300HP GT-4

I buy cars to drive not to worry about the 1st quarter of a mile and tenths of a second.

Looking at the bigger picture a supra will beat gt4 in any category, looks, top speed, acceleration etc etc.............. no discussion.

I think you have mis-understood what my argument was about.

I was arguing the fact that a Stock TT Supra would not beat a 300HP GT-4 on a track or at 1/4 miles etc.

I am not critizing the Supra, and your rights a standard supra would beat a standard GT-4 in all those categories, except looks in my opinion.

If someone can provide exact figures and proof that a standard Supra TT will beat a GT-4 with 300HP around a track and on the 1/4 miles then I will accept it.

My GT4 running 300bhp pulled the same 1/4 times as what my stock 326bhp uk auto supra does.

The extra power of the 2jz over the 3s is the reason for that, a lot more torque. Sure the GT4 used to get a cracking start but the 3sgte just runs out of puff. The 2jzgte just has the raw power over it.

So stock ST205 vs stock UK Spec Supra TT nuff said... about 100bhp diffrence

And lets not bring the MR2 into this, we all know about power to weight ratio and that the mr2 when tuned up to over 300bhp can beat a stock supra.

But everyone forgets that doing the same modifications on the Supra pushes it to about 400-500bhp....which is where i dont see your point any longer.

There is no replacement for displacement. And thats why the Supra is (was) the flagship model.

Ok I see your point. But I would still always bet on a 300HP GT-4 over a stock Supra...but that is just me!

I did mention Stock GT-4, but I didnt mean too  of course a stock Supra would beat a stock GT-4.......I was meant to say the 300HP.

I wasnt at all meant to offend anyone with my post, just voicing my opinion.

When will people (esp honda drivers) learn that BHP actually means jack :censor:!!!!!!!!

I was arguing with some little scrot that his Nova 2.0 16v would anhialate my old supra, as it had far better "bhp/weight", which on paper, it did.

he now things my old car was wichcraft powered as it killed his little barry box...

in reality he did not account for torque and a wode powerband...

let alone air resistance and the disadvatage of him having scrabble wheel drive!!!

As for Supras, which is the fastest out of all the various Supras?

and i would have to agree with midnightsupra, 1/4 mile doesnt mean much when the supras gunna overtake the celica after that with a .5 second diff.
