I want to change the wheels and tyres of my Hi Lux ('97) to enable some off road use at weekends. Mostly I mostly use the vehicle on the roads and have found that in damp to wet conditions with no weight in the bed the rear end tends to slip out.

Road use 70% vs. Off road 30%

Any suggestions?

Jackblack Im really happy with my BFG A/T 33x15x10.5 on my landcruiser. No noticeable noise and they go really well offroad.I also found them reliable in the wet. I basically use them as a daily driver and do the weekend thing and go camping when work permits. These probably account for about %40 of offroad tyres in oz.

The Bridgestone dueller is an almost equal favourite on landcruisers, hiluxs.

Ive also heard good things about the Yokahama geolanders as well.

In fact the top 5-6 manufacturers all make a reasonable tyre in this class with 31"33" sizes and all are in the same price range.

Anything sold as a mud tyre will get noisy and wear quicker and not worth it unless you need them

Have a look at the better equipped 4x4s in your area to see what they use.
