shortshifters reduce the throw and pivot of the gearstick! not the physical length!

but generally no

more often than not its longer so its closer to the steering wheel (rally/touring car style) but thats normally in race spec conditions not road

A quick shifter is totally different to a short shift kit... a quick shifter is a powered thingy that drag racers use to zoom through a sequential box.
