Lets Get Down To Business...

Ok people, i have spent sooooo much money on the Supra now i have decided to keep it :D (unless i loose my job or something and i have no choice)

I need to know about the cats in the car. I know it has two and that removing the cats is illegal.

But a lot of owners remove one and leave the other in, this makes it legal right? An my insurance company will be cool with this?

Lets say i get a totr exhaust system like the HKS Super Drager or the Blitz Nur Spec R and a decat pipe for the 2nd cat but leave the first one in - how much BHP will i gain?

is it better to get an exhaust system made up to my spec? as the branded systems are mega $$$

Is it best to remove the first cat or the 2nd? which give the biggest gain?

Anyone know how to disable the Exhaust Gas Recirc? as i hear this alone will give me an extra 20bhp or something. If i disable this will the car fail its mot on emissions with only 1 cat?

Thanks peeps

remove one cat and keep the second - other wise the boost limit can fail

It only costs a tenner to replace the 2nd cat when mot comes round

The HKS super drager exhaust offers the most bhp gains so would be the one to go for

Does the bodykit give an extra 4bhp?? ;)

:D It should do for the amount it cost

Yeah like Ed said i got an Blitz SUS Panel filter as it doesnt put your insurance up like an induction kit does and also you dont get any hot air entering it from the engine bay. Fensport told me i may get as much 10bhp from the filter alone but i thought i'd play it safe and round it off to 330 :D

I also got a TRD Oil filter...doubt i get any power from that

Cool, if i remove a cat i dont want to have the hassle of getting it put back in for the MOT though, i just wanna dump it and forget about it otherwise i may as well just remove both. Do you know which cat would be best to chuck?

Errr what do you mean exactly ?

What scientific testing is that statement based on ?

I've never seen the HKS Superdragger come out on top in any tests for added performance. The better performing exhausts tend to be the straighter ones like the Blitz Nur, HKS Ti, Veilside etc.

I think he means on the Jap cars if you remove the cats the boost limit is out of control and hits the fuel cut or so i have heard. Apparently the actuator/wastegate cant handle the boost and gets forced open or something.

But the UK cars dont get affected by this with our diffrent turbos setup and better actuators.

Yeah there is a bigger wastegate on the UK cars so we don't suffer from sky rocketing boost like the Jap cars do when CATs are removed.

Be a man, ditch all CATs

Been out on the razz with Bibbs and Lord Ed tonight.

Decided to go for a custom full system - inc 3.5" manifold and decat back

Both cats are coming out and a boost controller is going in.

Is the Blitz SUS going to be able to cope with from 400-500bhp or will i have to upgrade to an induction kit?

Get a Mk3 :P

That way they are old enough to loose the cats all together :D

Just taking the cat out can mess up the EFi system though, don't you need to get it RR'd for best results???

I also Rate HKS Exhausts. you even get a free sticker

Hi Leeky, If your going down the custom route, try and get at least 90mm piping and as Straight as you can get it!

I have seen a few custom exhaust systems on a few customers Supras lately and none have been very impresive you just can't compete with Japanese Robot welding and the fitment has been poor.

They also tend to be very loud, which could be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at!
