Mapped Ecu

when i bought my ae86 last week the guy gave me what he said was an uprated ecu to put on it, hes well into his motors and he imports jap stuff so he must know a bit.

im worried it may have adverse affects so i thought id get some oppinions before i fit it.

it looks like any other 4ag ecu, no other markings on it to say its special.

if the ignition and fuelling has been changed will the knock sensor etc pick up on it and !Removed! to safe levels or would it be overridden as the ecu's been messed with, i hav'nt got much experience in ecu involved stuff so any help would be appreciated.

As far as i no, no 4AGE i have built has a Knock sensor!! Knock sensors didnt come into Toyotas until the early 90's! (But if someone disagrees please correct me!)

Also because youve got a UK spec you wont have a cat or oxy sensor!

If it is a special ECU it will have been mapped to alter every thing nessesary to allow the car to run correctly!

Just plug it in and see what it does! Cant do anyharm!
