Hi, newbie here, as you can guess by my username I have a Crx but I am looking at an AE86 as a second car.

I have been offered a C reg car for £500, it has been stored for 7 years, and was up until recently a runner (starter motor has gone), The rear arches need replacing, as do the front wings, but the car is straight, and has tarmac spec Bilsteins and a cage.

My question is, I know that mint examples go for serious money, but is this car worth the asking price, considering it is nowhere near being ready for the road? And how difficult and expensive is it to get parts (arches, wings and a starter motor to begin with!) :help:

Thanks

Hi mate,

parts are a pain to find but not too hard - Fensport has most parts...

Also Arches/wings can be repaired by decent painters if they are too far gone.

You may wanna get under the car and check the Sills/Floor for corrosion, also under the tailgate/bonnet, chassis leg etc etc...

If all else is OK then £500 is a good buy - If nothing else u can sell it to me for a profit

A mate of mine bought one out of the Loot a couple of days ago for £300 - a B reg but had no tax/test - although the present owner was around 80 yrs old and had owned the car for 18 years..!!!

BUY it BUY it BUY it!!!!! Anyone would be a fool not to buy any condition AE86 for that money! You could spend 4k doing it up to concours condition and not loose money on it!!! Ive seen AE86's for sale in the irish autotrader up to £10k!!!! That maybe stupid money but they are getting very hard to come buy!
