Ok guys,

My missus was going to buy a Yaris, but she's seen a Paseo and said "Oooh, I love that... What is it?" I explain that it's a Toyota Paseo and she says she would like to have one of those instead (women eh?).

What am I looking for? How much should I be paying and how reliable are they?

Thanks in advance,

EarL.

Firstly buy mine :P :D

They start around 2.5k-4k ish depending on condition and milage, most seem to hit around 3k for a good one. They can suffer from shock problems, other than that it's your usual Toyota reliability.

There are always some dodgy ones in eBay.

ok.....

First off there are a few in Autotrader ranging from 1.5K to 3K Saw one yesterday for 3k for a 97 with 71,000, FSH & 1 years labour & parts warrenty....

shocks seem to be a factor with most older paseo's - mine needed doing recently (65 quid per corner)

other than that - they're not really boy racers cars so you can pretty much find one that hasn't been thrashed to buggery

part from that - reliability??? its a Toyota mate

mines a 92 import & apart from bits & pieces that needed doing anyway its on 182000+ KM & running smooth...

had a few problems with mine just recently but thats because i didnt know the history of the car when i got it & what i thought had been done actually hadn't (ie Cambelt, Shocks etc)

I picked mine up for £1,400 on 102,000 miles. Full Toyota history 1 owner UK car. Dealer had it sat for a while (8 weeks at £2,200) and said nobody else even looked at it. So far a great buy

Crikey, I wanted to try mine at around £3,500 , poss less without the wheels <_<

72K, FSH, v.vgc though...

I'd only be selling to get an N/A 2. :D

Mine had plastic wheels and no spoiler though. I've just purchased and sprayed the spoiler ready to fit and have just fitted 17's. Getting there, but doesn't look anywhere near as good as yours yet.

i thnink there are some recent pics of it on the forum somewhere...

Might stick a for sale sign on mine too :P

Have decided on my next car but gonna have to wait a while cos would need another 4 grand and my car to buy it, minimum <_<

Seems as missus had hours cut at work so had to start a new job for less money it seems a distant dream :(

Anyway Earl you won't go far wrong with a Paseo and parts are not that hard to find

When will we see the accident on the news? :arrgg-matey: just kiddin' m8. I'm sure your wife's a perfectly good driver.

funny how you put (for my missus) in the small type. It is statistically a women's car though.

relaible - unbeatable drove mine for 60,000 miles, was on 100,000 miles wen i sold it, and only replaced rear shocks and 1 wheel bearing in the time I had it.

cheap to run - fantastic on petrol - tho I didnt think so until I sold it and bought a new celica.

Price - mine had a full bodykit, was in immaculate condition inside and out, alloys etc and sold it for £2400, can pick up standard ones with approx 80k miles for around £1700!!! tempted to go out and get me one and start again! Would make the 1700 back in petrol costs in a year!!
