On Sunday I was forced to drive through a deep puddle which soaked the engine bay of my 1993 Starlet GT.

Since then, whenever I engage the clutch I get a scraping sound coming from the clutch.

Could I have got any dirt in the bellhousing? If so, is there anyway I can get rid of it?

Cheers

Does the scraping noise only happen when you are driving? Does it do it if the engine is off and you just press it ?

i reckon its water and crap got into your clutch boot, if you follow the clutch round you will see the slave cylinder, if you disconnect that from the clutch push rod and depress the clutch and it still scrapes then just oil and grease the piston.

if it doesn't make a noise then something is awry in the clutch/flywheel. you can get to the back of the flywheel through the inspection cover but to get to the clutch side you need to take the gearbox off. might be worth spraying compresssed air in there or water, don't spray anything petroleum based because it will contaminate the friction material.

have a nice day
