Carina Flooding Problem

Hi

I have a Carina E 2.0 GLi and recently when I try to start, the plugs get flooded. I have tried the following to cure this when it happens;

1. pull the EFI fuse to stop the fuel and clear it out. Has worked once, but doesn't seen to work anymore.

2. Change the plugs. The engine started after this, but the next morning flooded again.

3. Take the plugs out, clean them. Clear the engine by turning over with no plugs, replace the plugs. This works, but is a pain in the *****.

4. slowly press the accelerator down before ignitiion to stop the injectors working. this doesn't work either.

Any ideas???

I haven't monitored it, but it does seem to be raining when this fault occurs. Is this part of the problem or God having a laugh every time I have to lift the bonnet?

so what you saying is its hard to start it when its raining and damp .... you need to look to the electricals , ie coil , distributor cap , rotor arm plugs and leads , cranking and cranking to start it is flooding it , any modern day car is meant to start within seconds , a tin of wd40 sprayed on all those things i mentioned should help untill you can retify your fault. :thumbsup:

Sounds ignition related. No spark or bad spark means plenty of unburnt fuel and sluggish motor. Check for shorts on leads and re check gaps on plugs. Check Cap and rotor arm.
