Hi All,

My paseo needs servicing, what I wanted to know is how much is it going to cost me and where do I get the parts from?

I am not looking for performance parts or anything just standard stuff like air filter, spark plugs, oil filters etc.

Also, I have this horrible feeling that my drums are gone, and I might need them replacing, where can I get the parts for this and how much would it cost.

So in summary, I need parts for a general service of the car

and I also need either drums (or just shoes hopefully) and pad and discs for the front.

How much will this cost for standard parts and stuff? Also can I pick up the parts from any scrap cars as I heard the paseo shares alot of its stuff with the corolla?

Thanks in advance

get toyota parts, go along to your local toyota dealer with a parts desk and your vin number and they be able to sort you out with everything you need for service, oil filter about a fiver, gaskets about 5 to 15 quid, alternator belt about 10 quid, other aux belts are about 20 quid, get proper toyota coolant aswell a think a 5 litre is about 15 quid.

the ignition stuff, you can save loads buying to plugs on internet, but get dist cap, rotor arm, and HT leads at toyota, but your looking at about 80 quid for the lot not including plugs

As for your brakes you can get some good deals on performance pads and discs, but you can also get stock pads and discs, drums, shocks from:

buypartsby.co.uk at a pretty good price, but i have no idea who makes their discs and pads or even if they're any good, but they're a hell of a lot cheaper than toyota stock.

and all bits that you replace in a service should never be second hand parts, and i would never risk using anything second hand when it comes to braking, unless 100% sure its gonna be safe,

But prolly most important thing is to get timing belt replaced if it needs it, i get mine done every 50,000 miles but some ppl say sixty so just go with whatever you feel okay with, however even though its not that hard to do yourself (if you know what your doing) get a toyota dealership to do it for you, cost about 100 quid including replacement belt, but that is ******* loads than getting a new engine fitted.

And why do you think your drums are going?, if its 'cus you're having to pull handbrake further to stop it moving when parked on hill or summin, could prolly just mean your handbrake needs adjusting.

Hi thanks for the reply,

the drums thing, wen I brake there is this massive scraping/boaring noise, and visually when I take a look everything looks a bit more rusty than I would like it to be if u know what I mean.

The latest EPC system that is used at the dealers needs both the chassis number and the full model number. Both of these are on the vin plate.

Hi all,

I got my paseo serviced and it is running great now, but one thing, the shoes were replaced at the back, and now when I break heavy I get a sqeeking sound sometimes, is that normal for new shoes?

Also, the rear drivers side drum needs replacing as it is completely gone, so the mechanic basically cleaned it all out and replaced it good for a bout a month, but said I should get that replaced.

I wonder how much the whole unit would cost?

Fuel wise its great now also, MUCH more mpg now, I remember before I was getting about 98-110 miles out of a full tank, and after the service in 10 quid I am getting bout 77+ miles.

:)

its probably because ur drums are worn out like the mechanic told u

hey, about fuel economy (i kno, slightly random) has anyone tried octane booster?? i dunno, im still **** gobsmacked, but i mean before on a full tank id get round 200mi tops, more like 140mi tho most of the time....

well, i used octane booster, and now's my first new tank of petrol, ive used up less than a quarter and im already at 90 miles!!! im still shocked!!!

btw, would toyota dealerships fix bodywork damage and would it count as " servicing " ?

Posted

i wouldn't have thought so.

when i used octane booster it screwed up my mpg... it just hasn't been the same since, an that was 2 years ago!!

lol, weeeeird, coz mine's definitely soared (in a good way)!

well i mean i have heard of things like using injector or deposit cleaners on old cars can be bad coz it unclogs cracks in the engine that were plugged by those deposits bla bla bla.... but thats weird coz its octane booster, not a cleaner!

yeah, tell me about it! im just as confused!!!

Hi all,

I went into Halfords the other day, to try and get some touch up paint.

They have this chart thingy for Toyota cars, for some reason it only had 2 colours in the chart, Red and White,

under each section (red and white) there were like different types of red and different types of white.

And the year range for the paints goes back as far as 1988 according to the chart.

My paseo is silver (slightly bluey) how do I find out the exact colour of it so I can go and get the touch up paint?

I checked under the bonnet for the colour code but couldn't work out which number it was?

Thanks

i THINK the last 3 digits on the VIN plate are the paint code. but im not sure.
