Condensation

Avensis Lady

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar problem.

I've had a '99 Avensis hatch for 3 weeks, it's a great car (previously had a mondeo) but it gets a lot of condensation on the inside. There doesn't appear to be any water getting in. Do they just do this?

Thanks for any help

OK, thanks for you replies, I've got the Air con turned off at the moment so I'll see what happens. I suppose once moist air gets trapped in the car it takes a while to dry out.

if you run the A/C during the winter anyway it will help dry the car out as the conditioned air is dryer than external air. Toyota recommend running the A/C (and the heater) to de-mist the car on cold days for that reason. Wacky, but it works. Also check to see if the recirculation control is set to fresh rather than recirc. That should help too. My RAV used to steam up if the recirc switch was left on, in about five minutes. Many people advocate leaving the A/C on all the time as it prevents various seals deteriorating, - or at least running it fairly often.

Finally, if your passengers try and get in the car after getting soaked in a rainstorm ask them to run behind the car for a couple of miles to dry out. It saves your seats from getting wet.
