More Power

Can anyone help me, I am a 40 year old man that has turned into a young boy through the power of a Gen 5 Celica GT-R. Now i want more!. I have a 3SGE engine and want to know how to get more power from her. Everyone talks about induction kits but what are they and what do they do. As you can see i am new to all this but i know you people will help this old man live again. Anything you can add will be great as i want more power. Now i sound like a evil man from a sixties film, Oh well you know what i mean.

induction kits allow more air to be sucked in = more oxygen =more power.check out k&n air filters or http://www.piperxonline.co.uk/ .

performance exhaust will also give you extra power , also a decat pipe if the motor has a cat , will give a little more boost.lowered springs gives less wind drag also gives the car a sharper more controlled handling feel to it. below is my baby.

TBH induction kits have been discussed a lot on the Celica-club.co.uk forum.. some Gens work well with induction kits - some don't.

In the Gen6, the inductions kits available can free up a bit of power whereas on the Gen 5 you don't seem to get as much for your money due to heat soak.

A number of the 5's in the club have drilled holes in the lower section of the airbox and fitted a high flow filter panel eg. K&N or RamAir .. they claim to have better responses than when they had the induction kits fittted.

IT all depends on how much cold air you can get to the filter. As such if you do mainly motorway driving you should get a steady flow of cold air to the filter thuis getting the benefits.. but if it's mainly town driving you would see bettter results with a drilled airbox..

Have a look around the other forum entioned above andyou can get more information from the Gen 5 peeps.. we have a few motorsport racing techs there - even Loopy may try to way you to the darkside with NOS !!!
