Does a 2003 Avensis T3-X spec have heated and folding door mirrors?

Has the spec in the new Avensis changed much since launch (it wasn't that long ago I know).

I am after a used Avensis and wanted to know if the spec sheet I have now will show the equipment on a used one.

Cheers.

Hi runboy,

I have a march 2004 T3X Hatch. They do come with heated and electrically folding mirrors (the T3S I beleive does not).

They don't have traction control or ESP and only 16" alloys not 17". Other than that (oh and sat nav) then T3X is pretty much the same as a T4 !

Hope this helps

Andrew

Intesting how different specs are in various countries. Here in Sweden the trim levels are called "business" and "executive". The simpler business still comes with ESP, traction control, heated mirrors, rain sensor, etc.

The executive adds full leather with electrically adjustable front seats, 17 inch alloys and xenon light but no navigator. All Avensis in Sweden have headlight washers and heated front seats.

In Japan, they appear to have 2 specs: LI, XI with a Sports pack whch appears to be just a rear spoiler. They all have side bump strips though which you cant even get as an extra in UK where they are made.

They are appearing in auctions there quite frequently now. I also have a copy of the Japanese optional extras brochure if anyone wants a copy of the scans.

Thanks!

Yes, I didn't realise until yesterday how close the T3-X and T4 trim is! I can live without sat nav for the increased luxury!

Off to the dealer tomorow to see what a used T3-X Auto comes in at-hopefully cheaper than other Avensis they sell. How can some dealers charge £12k for the same age and mileage T3-X as others at £14k? Options can't add that much, nor metallic paint. Strange!

I've got UK T3-x 2003 hatch in Carlo Blue. It has folding/heated mirrors.

Mine is an auto and has button marked ECT/Snow near to the steering column. Is this the traction control thing?

I've (literally) just come back from France, drove 150 miles each way to Dover, then took the Channel Tunnel. You sure can get a lot of French wine in the back of an Avensis!!! Fuel consumption (motorway there and back at 75-80mph) is 46.7 -brilliant for an automatic - , car very comfy for all-day driving. Didn't miss sat-nav because I don't have it. Would have liked a cruise control. Electric folding mirrors very handy on Chunnel train when people squeeze past the car to go to the loo.

ECT is the power mode which means gears are held longer and a quicker sharper change to improve acceleration, Snow means the car will start off in 2nd gear and change gear slower to aid traction.

Are you sure about that James, afaik the ECT is purely for snow conditions and starts you off in second gear and is not a sports mode as well. The only way to extend the change uo point is to use the tiptronic mode although some engines have intelligent boxes that adapt to your driving style but i cant remember whether the vvti engine/gearbox has this feature or not.

I think I can answer my own question here, the T3-X ECT/Snow button is only for snow, some USA and other countries models have a power button on the transmisison for 'sporty' shifting' . THere's an interesting document here which describes just how much information gets fed to the (USA) transmission control from almost every other bit of the car on some Toyota models.

I notice that in the October 2004 brochure, traction control/brake assist is now standard on all vvti T3-X models, not just the 2litre. Also sunvisor mirrors have lights now. I wonder what changes have gone on under the skin that toyota don't mention?

Apart from that the spec seems to have remain unchanged since launch.

I noticed that T4 and TSpirit swapped alloys about 6 months ago.

Anybody think of others??

Hey, my 2003 car has lights in the sun visors. How do I tell if I have traction contol - other than taking it to a skid-pan? It also has rain-sensing wipers - my dealer said it hadn't but I was quite suprised when they started working by themselves. :-)

I wouldn't always trust the dealer! I doubt they will ever learn ever spec change.

I had a ride in an used Avensis and it didn't have lights in the sun visor mirros, so they must have been a spec change recently.

Couldn't Toyota tell you if you give them the chasis number?

To confirm you have traction control there should be a Button on the right hand side of the steering wheel to switch off the traction control

I read the manual (!) and discovered that there should be a button. Never mind, nothing has broken or fallen off yet (crosses fingers).
