Gerry,

Interesting news, do you have you any idea of timescales and is there going to be a formal TSB we can reference ?

Thanks

Ian

:D Hi Gerry & Everyone,

I've put a few miles on the Rav now (approx 1400) and filled up a few times too :crybaby:

Each time I filled brim to brim with the following results:

1) MPG Indicated on LCD display 38.9mpg, actual 32.2mpg

2) MPG Indicated on LCD display 37.1mpg, actual 31.0mpg

3) MPG Indicated on LCD display 38.2mpg, actual 31.2mpg

4) MPG Indicated on LCD display 38.1mpg, actual 33.9mpg

So Gerry, it looks like it's an ongoing problem with our petrol Rav's and over optimistic readouts !!!!

I'm also convinced the temp readout isn't right either !!

Anyway never mind, it was great in last night's snow. :D :D :D

All the best,

Casper

Ian and Casper, thank you for your response to this thread.

I am pleased to know that even with this annoying fault --the rav is still seen as a superb motor.

With regards to the replacement display. I was told by my garage two weeks ago that it would be about two weeks  I think they were telling porkies to keep me quiet B) As soon as I have any more details I will post them on this thread. ;)

Regards Gerry.

Hi, Do you mean what speed should you change gear?

In top the engine is perfectly flexible down to 40mph--level driving.

Lower than 40mph I change into fourth. People of course drive differently.

I would suggest if your mpg is only 21-22, you have your brakes on :help::rolleyes: ;) or you are driving way too hard

Gerry :)

You must get out of those low gears if you want respectable mpg.

Your changes are okay --no prob there. ;)

If you are driving in heavy traffic all the time in low gears maybe the mpg is correct. With normal driving 30-35mpg is achievable with the rav 2lt engine.

But you need some good long runs in top gear to achieve 35mpg. ;)

Good luck.

Gerry. ;)

PS. don't take too much notice of the displayed average MPH that can soon be pulled down when in heavy traffic. And calculate your mpg accurately.

Morning All :D

I had the same problem with the trip computer giving me the wrong readings - showing about 38 mpg when only getting 30 to 32 mpg.

A few weeks ago my head unit was replace (problem on the CD changer) and yesterday I noticed that the MPG reading is showing about 31 mpg.

Has the problem been corrected? I don't know but will let you know after I next fill up :)
