Hi,

I'm a new member hoping that someone can help.

Had a 1996 1.8gli from new and has now done 86k miles with all services at the local (good) toyota dealer.

In last two months it's started to develop a performance problem. After about an hours running the engine begins to stutter intermittently usually as the accelerator is depressed to climb a hill. It's almost feels as though it doesn't like the fuel. This will clear but then return after a few more miles.

The service centre have been somewhat puzzled and have tried a number of things - but now beleive it may be a faulty oxygen sensor that needs replacing and are quoting a fairly scary price (£300).

Has anyone else come across this problem?

Thanks in anticipation

O2 sensor problems are extremely common with carinas.

Best place to get a sensor is on eBay, get them very very cheaply (if you find them!)

Dont think a single person on the owners club hasnt had a code 21 (O2 sensor)!!! :bye:
