You could try elephant.co.uk ...

I'm only 22 and they have quoted me £750 on a turbo rev3, which isnt bad for the age and ncb etc..

I'm currently paying £700 for a calibra 16v, so it could be worse you could be in your 20's again!! :P

Woahhhhhhhhh, that ruddy cheap dudeman. I am paying over 600 for my UK Gti. It didn't have the Cat 1 system on it at the time tho. Living in Newcastle area is probably going to be expensive anyway, just like Liverpool. But, with the Tesco quote, did they say you HAD to have a Cat 1 alarm system and/ Tracking system fitted for the Turbo? When I had my 300ZX tt, I was with Tesco, albeit for a couple of weeks, I got it down to 500 something, BUT,

a, The vehicle MUST have fitted a Cat 1 alarm with certificate of installation

b, The vehicle MUST have fitted a recognised tracking system i.e. tracker with certificate of installation

c, I had to pay wait for it........1200 voluntary excess. <<<YUP.

because it was an import.

Yeh I had to add a allarm to get that price, I looked at this website:

http://www.japaneseimportspecialists.co.uk...ty/security.htm

And used there laserline 921 Immob as a guide.

So you think that quote was Cheap??????????

I got a quote on line for the UK GT T-Bar and it only came to £320 so I thought yeh turbo should be another £100 or so not double, just tried elephant but they wont quote online,

Anyone know any other online ins cos that will quote me????

you could try www.confused.com, they search a load of insurance companies for you then email you back the quotes they recieved. They're good starting point because they highlight the insurance companies that want to pull your trousers down!!

Well its starting to look better, Directline £542.85 for the GT Turbo 95 with a Laserline 921 Immob.

Happy with that but will try for better.

Thats a good price for a Geordie land based car. Try foning up those Freephone 0800 numbers in Yellow pages, doesn't cost anything, and you can get a quote there and then. If they ask if you've got other quotes, just give them a slightly lower quote, and see if they can match or beat it.

Try Adrian Flux. Get a quote then go to Firebond an tell them A F quoted you XXX pounds. They`ll try and better it. Got my GT4 insured for less than £300 all mods declared. REEEESULT. :D :D :D

If you live in newcastle then here is your answer....

You are in one of the high risk areas like me. Insurance risk gets grouped into postcode risk on a scale of A-F, A being low risk, F being High risk. (* referes to motorbikes), Here is a cut and paste of the necastle postcodes:

Right now I live in a high risk area, park on the road and drive a grp 18 car and pay £600 on a very limited mileage policy, unlimited mileage costs me well over £1200.....I am 28 with 9 years no claims dicount

If I could get a quote of £600 on an MR2 turbo I'd be laughing.

Having said that, my mate was insured on the same grp 18 car but extremely modified and only paid £400, unlimited mileage, as he lives in the sticks in a low risk area.....git.

Hi Mate,

Yeh total sympathise with the postcode and how insurance companies band all areas together I am just outside Teesside and its a very quiet area but I still have high premiums to pay :censor:

  • 2 weeks later...

Well I got the paper work through from Adrian Flux and after adding the IPT and the instalment charge to the policy it is now £18 more than Direct line.

As being a Gold member we are supposed to get a discount so I call them and confirm details and say I am a fully paid up Gold member of the Toyota Owners Club and as Gold member I get discount.

The Sales agent pops me on hold goes of to speak to supervisor and then comes back and the speal goes like this

''well Mr Forbes due to the type of policy and the fact we have a great quote for you there is no discount available on this policy so this is the best we can do''

So I then come back with well ive just matched your policy against direct line an your £18 more expensive after 3 more times of I will just check and pop you on hold I still get well that’s the best price available.

So direct line here we come.

Oh yeh checked many other policys and all way over these prices that includes Egg and they wanted before inst charges £632.10

with this thread goin i looked my insurance to see who im with, then i noticed, im only covered for 10 month!!!! still they were the cheapest by a long shot! bell direct, they beat my cheapest quote by just under 200!

24 with 4 yrs no claims, 3 points sp30, was in accident which cost me my primera which wasnt my fault but it somehow classes against me, parked on street in whats got to be a high risk area, costs me just under 500, was over 600 but i added my mam on as a second driver, when i put dad on it went down another 50 but then up by 200 when i said hes a taxi driver

thats for an n/a import and 3PF&T

wasnt asked to fit any security mods but it does have an immobiliser, the only thing that bothered me is they need full payment or they put you through finance which charge over 50%apr!!!!!!!!!!!!
