:( Recently the oil level light on my Lucida came on. I checked the oil and it was VERY low (despite no obvious burning or leak). I topped up the oil, but the light remains lit. I have tried tapping the oil level switch(as I had a simillar problem with a water level on an earlier Ford) but to no avail. Any Ideas out there ?

If its anything like my previa, it will be the oil valve in the top up tank. The light doesnt necessarily mean low oil, but can mean too much oil.

Last service, i drained the oil, fill and checked the engine as was told by chiltons, then went to top up the oil reservoir. While driving, the light then came on. All the oil in the tank had slowly drained into the engine as the valve has become faulty over time, so there became an excess of oil inside the engine triggering the light.

Thanks for the advice. I'll get out and have a look later

My Lucida light intermittantly goes on and off even though the levels are perfect, so I took the bulb out.

When you have a car long enough to learn its personality as I call it. You get to know if it uses/loses oil. Ive had a load of cars in the past and have never needed a light to tell me the oil level and even if I did I wouldn't trust it. Ive had my Lucida since April and I know already it doesn't use a drop of oil. So I change the oil drive 50 odd miles check the oil is OK and that normally does it for another 10,000 km

Are these oil valves easy to change and how much are they to buy ?
