1977 Hiace

Hello,

i am looking to buy a Hiace from 1977 campervan, but on the internet i can't find information about this car. can any body help whit information/experiens about this car, or links to interesting sites?

I know very little about them, in Great Britain very few survive due to our damp climate and not so much interest in preserving them, when 60's or 70's campers are wanted everybody seams to go for the Volkswagon Microbuses or failing that Ford Transit camper and Bedford CA or CF.

I do think its a shame because the Hiace camper rusted no worse than any of the above and I would say is far more reliable mechanically.

the only bit of info I do know is they rust in very much the same places as 70's 'Bay window' Volksbuses; i.e drivers footwell/ floor, lower rear wing corners etc.

rust that is my fear also but the car i am looking at is resturatet in 1997, only the body was done then.

what are the motor's that has been used in this car, does any body know's that?
