im thinking of getting some replacement 18's, the bore size on the ones i have been offered are 70..... but i've been told the bore size for the mr2 is 60. the offset on the 18's i've been offered is 35.

is the mr2 bore size 60?

also, what problems will ihave if i fit a 70 bore size.

cheers

The MR2 has a bore of 54mm. You really need to have a location on the bore otherwise you run the risk of shearing off the wheel studs. The studs are designed to hold the wheels on not to centre them or support the weight of the car. The spigot on the hubs should be a snug fit in the bores on the wheels.

That doesn't mean these wheels are no good though, you simply need adapter rings that have a 54mm bore and a diameter of 70mm. If you contact any alloy wheel supplier that sells whatever brand these wheels are they should be able to supply you with a set of suitable spacer rings. They are often called hub-centric rings. If you can't get any that way then any little back street engineering company could turn you up a set on a lathe. It would only take them a couple of hours.
