Mark 1 Vs Mark 2

Right I've been trying to think, Mark 1 or Mark 2 Yaris? - T-Sport I am on about throughout this topic.

I think the lights on Mark 2 are better, they are crystal and are more cool looking thats about all thats init for me.

But if I got a Mark 2 would any of the bodykits fit (Booster/Veilside) would I be able to do a front headlight conversion? What else would limit what I do? Cause as far as I am aware the Mk1 is most compatable with modification. Although I have seen that C-One have now released their Mk2 bodykit, with a very funky looking (Celica style) Carbon Fibre Bonnet which looks well sweet.

I would be looking at the booster kit most likly. Im still not sure if the exhaust is good enough, but Im pretty sure its well worth the £550 price tag and sound the biz.

Just wondering what you think?

Also 3-Dr? 5-Dr? Thinking of practibility here for ppl getting in and out. Although a 5 Door T-Sport Mk1 is pretty much impossible to find, let alone in Chilli Red/Eclipse Black (My 2 colour choices)

Get a Mk1 mate .. they look better Imo and also if u pick one up second hand then you'd have more money to play with mods etc.

As I suspected hehe. I know the Mk1s are getting cheap. I could get a T-Sport for £6,500 now. But Im getting one next Febuary once my insurance runs out and the NCB goes up. Also the new Yaris suposedly comes out next year, so that will knock prices even more.

Dont suppose anyone could:

1.) Tell me an exhaust which would fit the Booster Kit (other than the actual one) or a place to get one done fully custom cat-back?

2.) If the booster exhuast is a full cat-back.

3.) If anyone has a recording or could get one of the Booster Exhaust on a T-Sport. I wanna hear it, and when the sound kicks in. Jaxx said it wasn't as good as he had hoped but some people say its quite good. I just want it noticed, and heard at most times, doesn't have to be uber loud!

Another thing, Im not sure... Eclipse Black or Chilli Red?

Chilli Red:

- Rare.

- Carbon Bonnet would show up a treat.

- Quite bright, looks nice.

Eclipse Black:

- Its black! So its gotta be cool.

- Carbon Bonnet wouldn't show up very well so I wouldn't fork out £600+ on one, but I want one! Cause they are cool.

- Harder to clean, (although WRC says easier :S)

At the moment I would get the colour I could find, but what do you all think?

There only is a Mark 1!!! Its phase 1 and phase 2 actually!

You will have trouble finding a phase 1 with 5 doors cos as far as I know they didn't do it with 5 doors!

<---------- I'd also go with black, I'm not biased! :P

And I think the Bosster exhausts have a 4" tailpipe which means any exhaust should fit in the gap and you could cover the other side up!

Also fit new bulbs to the phase 1 and you can have white/blue for a few bucks!

I'd go phase 1!

I seem to be well versed in this now....

Phase one! Phase one! Phase one! Phase one! Phase one! Phase one!

It looks better, it's cheaper, it's made 100% in Japan, and it's easier to mod!

Phase one! Phase one! Phase one! Phase one! Phase one! Phase one!

Chappers loves it hehe.

Are all Phase 1 Jap built then? I thought some were French built, dnt worry I will look into that.

And yeh Phase 1, Mark 1, all means the same 2 me, I just type which ever 1 comes to mind 1st, sorry ppl who that confused and/or offends!!

As for Phase 2 interior, wots so fantastic about it? Just little things? I know about the seats have memory but anything else?

Thanks for the knowledge people, as per usaul top notch stuff.

Thanks for the 4" knowledge as well, Im sure Kevin... (KEVIN!!!) would be able to confirm such small details. I was curious. I do like a bit of dual exhaust so I may get one custom to fit it, but time will tell and now isn't the time. Im just planning ahead (as usaul)

The Phase 1 interior is gray and crap quality, the phase 2 has a black finish, seems better quality and the way the trim is setup seems nicer...

When i got mine i test drove a phase1 it was made in France!

it must have been good though cos i ordered one.

i'm very happy with my phase2 it feels better built than the one i test drove,

inside chrome bits and bobs and carbon bits, the rear seat handle is easy to work.

Outside i like the grey centre bits in my bumper its stone chip free! if it was painted

like the phase1 it would be chipped.

but to be honest its a personal taste thing really we dont all like the same do we

I do prefere the mark 2, the front just looks that bit more refined, and meaner. But seems like I would have problems modifiying it so thats the only hold back, o yeah and the higher price tag. Hehe.

It will be my Uni car :)

I prefer the Mark 2 T-Sport, my T3 is a Mark 2 I know but the Mark2's have an all round better appearance than the Mark 1 Sports

Also fit new bulbs to the phase 1 and you can have white/blue for a few bucks!

Blue? Are they legal? I thought they had to be white? Or can you get away with certain "shades" of blue?

Cause I would seriously need to think about the lighting, needs to look "cool" and different at night to stand out. So perhaps a blueish tint (BMW style) would work.

Im not sure about morette headlight conversion, and I dont suppose they do any others?

Would love LED backlights, but no signs as of yet, although I did see some on a Jap car... the AGS Car. Very nice.

Mr T informed me only the T-Sport is now made in Japan. I’ve never seen a T-Sport that’s been made in France.

The phase 2 has the safety improvements over the phase 1 which consequently missed out on the 5* in the NCAP test’s.

The front seat now has a memory when moved on the phase 2.

According to the UK Mr T site, the phase 2 has the upgraded 1.5 engine, due to Euro IV emissions standards.

Phase 2 for me

Excellent.

I was thinking though Phase 1/2 what are the exterior changes other than the lights, and hence front bumper?

So Booster side-skirts and rear would fit. As would aftermarket lights.

Only thing I can see a problem with would be Booster front valance, but if you ordered it surly a bodyshop could work around it, or just get one cusom made in the same style, or similar.

Hence no modifiying limitations as the only limitation is the front bumper change (i presume)

Crisis.. would you be changing bumpers straightaway? I mean, Chilli red, with a carbon bonnet  , I would be happy enough with the standard bumpers if I put the bonnet on

Some wheels and slam it..

Well, i stand corrected again... i was under the impression that all T_sport phase ones were made in Japan. Could it be that the sticker in the windscreen was meaning the glass was made in France??!! (Nah, im just arguing because i hate being proved wrong!! Nooooo!!)

It most certainly well is a personal taste thing, for example... various car magazines rate the Yaris as having poor handling, rolling too much and not gripping enough... i'd disagree to my grave!!

At the end of the day, whatever car anybody buys, the only judge is yourself, no matter what anybody says, if you think your car's perfect... it is.

The rear bumper is also different mate as are the rear lights which are all red!

Do u replace the whole bumper with the Booster rear?

No just the lower sectoion from the fog/reversing light down i think.

Just now that it looks like Im going to uni, I wont be spending mega bucks on it, but it will look sweet, so Im not sure if I will even put a bodykit on it at the end of the day.

Just thinking some nice 16z, 40mm lower, veilside spoiler, tinted windows (dark smoke or limo) a sweet exhaust - Fujitsubo Power Getter Exhaust - a few interior tweaks and a nice ICE system, thats about it.

I guess we will see when time is closer. Thanks for your help guys.
