Installing I.c.e. In Your Rolla

I am fitting my stereo and changer in my car and have noticed that there are no Speakers or mounts for them in the doors or rear quarter panels, the only place I have found Speakers is either side of the dash.

Am I missing something? or is that all they have?

Also, does anyone know the spec and size of the standard Speakers in the dash?

Kind regards,

Alex

Cool, Ive got a Kenwood mask head unit and a 10cd changer to go in, i guess il have to mount the changer in the boot, had it in the glove box in my last car, but from the Corolla box isnt suitable so have to rip up the interior to carry the changer cable, have you ever messed with the interior?

Ive also got some 5'' Kenwood dual mag components (160w) which will probably be useless since the front Speakers are 4inch but my kenwood dash mounted tweeters will fit ok.

The oiwner who had it before me has fitted some 5inch components on the rear shelf and hes made an mdf shelf over the top so its sort of like a homemade attempt at a stealth shelf. Il probably remove these and fit some high power Kenwood 6x9s. Ive noticed there are some spaces to fit maybe 6x4 eliptical Speakers either side of the parcel shelf possibly.

I dont want to go about cutting away at the interior as I want to keep her original as possible,

Any suggestions most welcome,

Regards,

Alex.

My mate next door is currently helping me install a 12"sub,amp and mp3 changer in the boot.Prob is ,I've got some good 6x9's and now have to get rid of them and put some components in the front.I tried to put some woofers in the rear quarter panels, but some metal got in the way, lol. The dash is crap for upgrading Speakers.I've currently got 10cm Pioneer Speakers stuck in,but barely, lol. We're going to make some builds for the doors over the next month or so.Good luck with your ICE

I swear I saw somewhere (maybe autostyle) that you can get replacement door cards with speaker pods already on them. They were at least 10cm too.

With a bit of careful working out, you can get speaker into the door panels though, you'll need to cut the door card though and no more than 10cm Speakers either.

In some countries when the GTi was badged as the FX GT They had Speakers fitted by the rear parcel shelf. On UK spec cars you have just a recessed 'clip in' plastic tray either side.

This pulls out and a raised spearker cover goes over with speaker underneath.

Don't know if this helps with somewhere to neatly put more Speakers. Try your dealer for the Speaker covers (they would have to look in 'Grey import' Parts CD).
