THinking of contacting Mr T, and seeing if he can do this blue printing thingy with the engine,

anyone got opinions on this subject?,

anything that should maybe be looked at first.

im wanting to ideally maximise the power output of a N/A engine

Doubt Toyota would do it, not worth their hassle. If anything they would get you to contact TTE in Germany.

It's probably not worth the hassle to yourself, unless you are totally rebuilding the engine anyway. Are you building an engine for racing or for the street (i.e. are you confined in what you can do by rules)?

Otherwise, nitrous is a good way to get an occasional boost in power. You can get longer duration cams, they will give you higher peak power, at the expense of power bandwidth. It may be possible to skim the head and increase the compression ratio. But then you will need a higher octane fuel. To get the most out of these mods you will need a mappable ECU and have it set up on a dyno.

Just noticed you have a gen 5. If it has a cat then that get that removed, but you are likely to need to put it back to pass an emissions test. I believe the gen 6 has the same bottom end as your engine, just different cams, ECU, and induction system (ACIS rather than TVIS). That engine has 14 more hp than yours with the cat in place. So you could try and get hold of some cams from a gen 6.

I think there is someone on the MR2 forum with 200 hp N/A. They should be able to give you some advice.

The restrictor wont let you go above 112mph, if you can get up above that then its derestricted

"Blueprinting" is just building an engine to a very exact spec. Toyota will rebuild it for you, though if you want something done perfectly you will need to speak to a specialst engine builder. TTE do not do engine rebuilds. However there are hundreds of palces in the UK that do, simply pick up your yellow pages and have a look.

It's pointless though, because blueprinting will not give you any more power, rather it is a way to ensure that the engie you are building is capable of supporting serious power with longevity. Since I can't see how you are going to extract serious power out of the 3S-GE without spending at least 3 grand plus the cost of a blueprinted and balanced rebuild (anothr couple of grand) then I don't think it's worth your effort.

I just got my 3S-GTE rebuilt and couldnt be happier. Balancing cost about $250NZD (70-80 GBP) so thats not expensive, its the actual time spent pulling the thing to pieces to do it. Your best be is to look at either forced induction (turbo/s-charger/Nos) or get a beams vvti 3S-GE and drop that in. They did come out in the SS111 celica among other models and at 200hp standard you would be hard pressed to find better.

Best bet to do a rebuild is to get a really good mate to do it... mine set me back $450NZD in labour and its as good as it was from the factory. Better actually with some forged pistons now doin the rounds.

For what your looking at pouring into a Gen 5 3S-GE your wasting you time in my opinion. At the end of the day your still left with a moderate performer and a few grand worse off.
