Started my car an hour ago,and while i was getting the correct read out on the Fuel Range display,'50 Km' parked switched the engine off for 5 min, then restart and now i get a reading of ''0 Km' The fuel gauge seems to be correct.

Anybody had a similar problem.or any way to reset it?

TIA

everytime you stop the engine and take the key out the trip computer resets the values. The moment you start the engine the trip computer shows the consumption sometimes like 80-90 lt/km. So the avarge becomes like 40-50... So it show that you cannot go even 1 km like this... Its like a bug in a pc game... And these trip comptures never shows more then the initial value

i mean

for example on an Opel Vectra

if the tirp computer shows 300 km when you are consuming an average of 10 lt/100km, it shows 400 km when you comsume an average of 8 lt/100 km and lowers it every km you go.

but in the Avensis

if the trip computer shows 300 km when you are consuming an average of 10 lt/100km, it shows again 300km when you consume an average of 8 lt/100 and waits for 100 kms to lower it...

this is an extreme example but it works like this...

It seems to me that the computer is very pessimistic when "calculating" the distance range you could drive with the existing fuel and the average consumption.

I was not brave enough to push it to the limit, but when filling the tank the level indicator goes up very fast if I only put 15 litres, which somehow suggests there was much more fuel left inside the tank.
