2003 Camry Won't Start

hi,

i have a 2003 camry with about 1.3k miles on it. its been in the garage since feb or so and every once in a while, i go start it to make sure it still works when the person that drives it comes back to the country.

i haven't started it since early Oct i think and i go start it today, the first time it sounds like it will start but half a second later it just makes this clicking sound. it doesn't sound like the engine is moving at all, just this fast clicking sound. any ideas? the Battery seems good since all the lights come on and when i start it i usually let it run 15 mins at least parked. its late and the dealer is closed, and i reallllly don't want to find out something broke. any suggestions on getting it started?

tia.

The problem is the Battery. It's got enough power for the lights, but not to get the starter motor going. Leave the lights on for 5 minutes then they will dim then go out too :bye:

The problem is caused by just letting the car idle once in a while. Idling alone does not allow the alternator to charge up the Battery. The car should be driven a couple of miles at least every couple of weeks or so.

Just get the car jump started or try charge up the Battery, you should be fine. But worse case scenario the battery has come to the end of it's life and needs replacing (not expensive) - just make sure you get the correct one

I hope that its just the Battery, I always just idle it since the thing has no insurance. I'm gonna be jumping it after work and hope it starts fine. That clicking sounds really weird, none of the old cars with weak batteries ever sounds like that, at least the engine tries to start.
