Avensis Cdx 32001 Engine Warining Light

Had the light that looks like an engine come on yeterday and will not go off again. The manual says contact Toyota

Can anybody tell me what this light is and what possible problems are there. Car seems to run ok still

When the engine management light comes on it could be for a number of reasons.

when it lit up on mine it was the oxgen censor on the cat. The car itself like yours drove alright but if i hadn't had it fixed then there was a good chance that the cat would overheat and then need replacing (and that aint cheep). My advice is take it to a Toyota Garage and get it checked out.

just had mine in to the dealer for the engine warning light, turned ot to be a fault on the cat, it now needs replacing, £685 :o

i had the fault removed and bought the cat at a discount (due to the car only just done 62k miles) toyota sold me the cat at half price as good will.

not had cat fitted as yet and warning light hasnt come back on?

best thing you can do is get it checked out, cost me £32 just to find the fault, but good dealers will do this for free!!

I've started using a new garage as the old one was crap. They booked me in this afternoon and it's fixed now under warranty (which runs out in a months time).

Something about raising threshold on the cat ?

very happy with the service at this new garage
