Newbie Insurance Problem

Hello all.... Newbie here...

Picked up a red Celica 190 about 2 months ago very impressed :)

I do have a small issue though...... Had a prang the other day and starting to go through my insurance. (my fault went into the back of someone...)

However just checked through my forms and noticed they do not contain a speeding fine (and three points) I picked up just over a year ago. Not sure if I declared it or not (in the excitement of getting a spanking new car)...

Will this cause me a problem???????

Please help I'm a little nervous.....

its possible mate, really depends on whether they want to pay up or not

Do you rekon I should admit the mistake and see what happens? or just play dumb?.........

Couldnt agree more, they should have checked your history anyway. Elephant threw up the fact that my dad (named driver on my policy) had some points a few years back which he forgot about.

They just told me that my policy is going up £50 and went and charged me. :censor:

Anyway, unless you have written either the 3rd party's or your own car off i wouldnt worry about them checking

Just play dumb, if they find out you could try to make out that you declared it when you took out the cover, and it must be their mistake. It depends on how you gave your information though, if you did it online then it will be pretty obvious to them whether or not you declared it. If you did it over the phone you are in a better position, but they usually record all calls, and they just might hold on to the tapes (pretty unlikely after two months, but if they do have it and you try to lie now it won't look very good at all).

Every Policy I have had comes with a disclaimer saying you must read the policy they have sent and check it for errors, so even if you did tell them on the phone, but they recorded it wrong, the responsibility is still on you to correct them.

I wouldn't offer the information, but rather sit tight and cross your fingers. It does also leave you in a sticky situation after the claim has been settled. Do you tell them about it after incase you have another bump and risk them working out you had it before? Or do you leave it and hope you don't crash before your renewal and change companies at renewal time?

they rarely check your licence. only for major accidents resulting in pile ups, death, £££££'s writeoff's etc.
