hi,

my opinion is that german cars in the UK are all over-rated...you can get better jap cars for the same money with have a better spec....my granddad had a BMw 3 series, bought it brand new and it gave him loads of problems from day one....he now has a CTS and he cant believe how good it is compared to his Crappy BMW!

The germans still have the best interiors, designs and reputations over any jap car.

I can't think of one japanese car with the exception of lexus which provides the same quality feel of german rivals.

No doubt toyota's last a long time and the majority have very few/no problems at all.. but that's not enough to proclaim them better than audi/bmw/mercs i'm afraid

BMW's are nice to want, but not so nice to own. Go here to read of mine :censor:

I now drive a Toyota & wouldn't touch any German car with a barge pole. Best to stick with Japanesse based cars. While the German ones trade off their reputation.

A nice interior won't be so nice when the rest of the car is rubbish (the bits you can't see).

Aphelion, I have 85K trouble free miles with my CTS for the last 18 months, have to change to another new company vehicle... yes the CTS is once again top on my list because of the price / specs... it is a lot cheaper than the CTR £85/month and tax.  Also we can only choose our car from Ford, Vauxhall, honda and toyota.  But I think I should at least pop down to my local VX garage to have a look at the Astra turbo...  otherwise, a silver or grey CTS...

Nuts to the VSC just be careful and buy a Civic Type-R!

Nick

NIck I had to choose between a CTS and a CTR for my company car, ok slight lie as I had lots of cars at my disposal but in the ned it was a choice between those two. I will openly admit the CTR is a better hot hatch, however doing 30k a year I wanted comfort and toys that the CTR just doesn't have and as a by product I got a car that is almost as fast

I totally agree, if had to drive everyday I woundnt own a Civic Type-R. But as its my weekend toy, it dont really bother me. And I agree that the Corolla is not much slower in a straight line, on a track it would be another story!

Also I have to disagree with all the anti German remarks, I have only ever owned Jap cars but I have to say they dont even come with in a mile of there German counterparts the cabin design and built is much neater.

^^^^^^^^^^^

I'm the same i have a clio cup for weekend use and occasional track use, it is a fantastic car, the CTS wouldn't see which way it went along the twisties or even a series of roundabouts but i'm buggered if I'm sitting in that to go to work every day

For XTJC,

If you have some money to spend ,change the stock Rear Sway Bar with

TRD's product!

HUGE improvment on the Track !!!!!!

I changed mine a week a go!Fantastic handling improvment!

TRD's stuff has 26 mm against stock's 20mm !!!!!!!!!!!

Hi!

I would say that e european car is much better if it is a company car. BMW's are much more refined. The suspension has the best Handling / Comfort ratio i've ever seen, plus powerful engines.

The only thing is that they are VERY expensive and suck in the winter. Here in Moscow it's -10 celcius and not a single beemer is capable of even matching a FWD / 4WD jap car.
