i have just purchase my first toyota celica. it is a 1976 celica gt (RA-24)

the question i have is does anyone know anything about the RA-24. I can't seem to find anything out about it on the net. The car is running fine and i only paid $300 for the cat, the body is in great condition except for the hood and the trim on the side is missing. If anyone could help me in this i would be greatly appreciative. :hokus-pokus:

Of the first 'Generation' (1970 - 1978ish) there was the 'TA22' and finally the 'RA28' (The fastback mustang shape...my favorite!) however there was around 1973 a 'Fastback' for the Japanese home market (a picture of this is on the 'Toyota Automobile Museum) is this a RA24?

See it at:

http://www.toyota.co.jp/Museum/data_e/a03_17_2.html

You will see it appears to be an 'evolvement' of a TA22 into a RA28.

Perhaps someone else can shed more light on this.

In the UK ,the generation one celica was called by its model code...TA22, TA23 ,RA28.

In the USA, the same vehicles model code was RA20C, RA21C ,RA24C.

Ah so.

It would appear the man has what we in England would call a RA28...yes?

However I am now curious about any info on this '73 Fastback.

jax1-2 celica ,going by that model code RA24, is the same as our TA23 with the facelift front end.

I'm been looking for information on the web ,but its proving to be rather hard work ;) .

Did find this.... http://users.chariot.net.au/~stmezz/jeff.htm

The RA24 is, I believe, the same as the RA23. I think the model code was created because of the safety equipment specified for the North-American market like the larger bumpers with those "horns" on and front and rear side lights.

I think the car in question is the TA25 and was the first liftback model, only available in Japan. it later evolved into the RA28/29/35 which was (more) globally available.

thankseveryone for all your help. i am excited about restoring this beautiful car and making it a little faster hehe. the problem i have is that here in the states it is hard to find any parts that arent rotted out.

but i am quite persistant and a bit of a engine and body mechanic myself so i may actually have to fabricate the peices myself. but i will get this vehicle back in good order and little bit more :) welll if anyone else has any more info or help on finding pats i would greatly appreciate it and like to thank you in advance.
