Hi fellas.

Just gonna air my frustration!

Picked up my brand new 54 reg 2.0 D4d Avensis in silver fern last week (replaced my 03 reg 2.0 vvti). Though I would save some money on company car tax with a diesel.

Well..........after 4 days and 100 miles I started it up and the engine was as rough as a bears **** and had no power. Rang the dealer and they said to not drive it or risk voiding warranty. Got a brand new demonstrator off the dealer straight away which was good but they didnt collect my car for 2 more days.

I spoke to them yesterday, they say the injectors are knackered and seals in the engine. Its gonna cost...wait for it...........£2500 to fix!!!!!!!!! (1500 plus vat for parts then labour on top, thank god I'm not footing the bill!!)

Not very impressed at all, the engine surely can't be the same as new again????

They say its gonna be above a week maybe two weeks until I get it back (not sure I want it back to be honest!!)

100 miles and the injectors are fubar’d already? Seals aswell? Do you think it may have done more miles and the clock been turned back? Any signs in the car which may lead you to suspect anything?

Must say I’m surprised and disappointed :o

Since it's new I would try and push for a replacement vehicle it's quite common procedure for cars with serious problems or at least a new engine.

However I am a little concerned that it happened in the first place, there's plenty of trouble with the Avensis' petrol engines at the moment but does this mean that is also weakness with the diesel's which may arrise over the next few years?

My company has approx 50 fleet Toyota's and are all bought from Toyota GB direct and prepared by dealers. No way that it has been clocked its brand spanking new!!!

I think that the dealer see it as an embarassment and are doing all that they can to save face.

We have about 20 other 2.0 D4D's in the fleet and have had since the new Avensis was launched, not had a problem with one of them. We have Toyota's for this reason.

Had an 03 reg 2.0 vvti before this and had no problems at all with it, fantastic car.

They are not as economical as I though either, should have gone for another 2.0 vvti with TC and EBD as standard.

Needless to say I will be keeping the demonstrator until mine is 100% perfect.

On my 2004 D4D I limped in to de dealer after 1100 km. No power and heavy vibration. At the dealer they accused me for filling petrol instead of diesel!

It turned out that one of the injectors had given up, and I was running on 3 cyl.

Running just a few km on 3 cyl I dont think my engine have taken much punishment. They said they never heard of that error before. Well now I`m not the only one!!!

Keano 40: If seals are broken, I`d demand new engine.

Snakechampion: Reading your posts in several threads scares the s*** out of me. Changing my -92 camry 2,2 to a new ave suddenly seems like a bad idea

I would never change a Camry for an Avensis, they were far superior for what's important, mostly due to them being made in Japan for the UK market, my dad has not long got rid of his for an LS400, if only I had been over 21 at the time so I could afford the insurance I would have bought it off him because it was 100 times better than my Avensis even though it was the same age and had done 3 times the mileage.
