:D Hi all, when i sell my car soon i might be on the lookout for a starlet SR, i heard they are great little cars to drive, can anyone tell me as much information as possible about the car, ie parts costs/performance etc. Is the SR really worth buying?, im only on the lookout for a 1.3 at the moment because of insurance purposes, ive seen a few SRS on autotrader etc but they seem awfully expensive for what you get, the cheapest is £2750, there is one at £1800ono but i phoned it and it hasnt got any service history etc. How much do you think it would cost for an r reg with say 50000miles on it FSH etc, any help is much appreciated, thx all :D .

All the starlet SRs are a 1.3, they are great little cars to drive, also it doesnt drink too much petrol so it's alright there. It's only a group 5 insurance, so thats not too bad. If you don't wanna spend too much on a starlet, then why not go for the starlet Sportifs or Si's, they are basically the same as the SR but the SR has the extra's such as TTE rear spoiler, lowered on 25mm TTE springs, 15" speedlines alloys and also a rev meter.

if i was to sell my SR which is a S reg done 53k on it, i would sell it for about £3500.

Very rare little cars

The choice is yours

:D Hi shelly, personally i wouldent pay £3500 for a small engined 3 door car, nowadays you can got alot of car for £3500 eg civic VTI. I just read the parkers price guide for the SR, says £2100 private for around an R plate which i think is a bit more realistic, but really i think parkers is a bag of crap, some of the prices they come up with are unbelievable. Anyway i would have probably went for a sportif BUT i do want a rev counter AND some of the sportifs dont com with electric windows. I was going to put SR wanted in the wanted section, but if you would want £3500 for yours then i havent really got a chance of getting one then for the price im willing to pay :( , oh forgot to say, thx for the reply :D

Well thats the selling price i would put for my SR because it's in top condition ;p, but it's not going up for sale iam afraid. Hope you find a nice mint SR sometime, good luck

P.S. Civic VTi are high on insurance so you will be paying loads anyway ;p

SR's, Sportif's all limited due to the 4EFE there is only so much you can do to extract the power out of the 1300's none the less nicely powered motors with alot of potentional in terms of engine swapping etc, it't won't stand up against a VTi or a Swift GTi, but very nice cars none the less!

my 1.3i hasn't even got power steering!!!

i suppose it makes it lighter, therefore more performance!! :hokus-pokus:

PS is a nice feature to have, and it won't make you that ligher so it won't give you a big notice in performance, I thought it wouold come with PS tho?!

:D The entry level sportif didnt have PAS :D .

I thought it wouold come with PS tho?!

yeah, my ones a weird one...

the guy who owned it before me lived in australia, he had bought the car while he was out there and then decided to migrate to the uk, he liked the car so much that he got it shipped over. when i bought it he was looking at going back home but couldn't afford the car to do the homeward trip too.

so £2k later i am the proud owner of a stock starlet 1.3i with no pas, e/w or c/l.

but as it was from aus, it came with air con as standard though!!!! :D

:D Hi all, have to put off getting the car now until my insurance renewal in january  , and another strange thing with my insurance aswell is my current 1.3 lightly modded micra is £750 a year 26 years old with 3 years NCB which is expensive anyway, BUT i asked for a quote for the starlet sr and i got quoted £1044, god knows why that is because the starlet has the same engine size etc and practicaly the same mods i have AND also same insurance group, im soooooooooo confused buy this quote :ffs: :help: .
