Worth Trying To Be Different In A '92 Previa?

hi, im basically new to these forums, i've been on here for a while before, but have always read, but never registered. my family isnt a one type family, we have acura, bmw, nissan, and toyota. the van has been in the family since it was new in '92. this is my first post here, so sorry for any incorrect information and such.

is it really worth it to modify a '92 previa van?

it's one of the coolest vans out there, and a whole lot of my friends love it too. i drive it everywhere, from northern california, to southern california, from home to school several days a week, and around the city for fun. i have other cars, but the van is plain fun to drive, and cruise around in.

since '92, when the van was bought new, we have never changed the suspension. and now i go to school for automotive repair, and i notice that the back is very very soft, and would like to fix it. as looking to fix that problem, im thinking i may try to find aftermarket parts for it. i.e. lowering springs, and gas shocks. but i cant seem to find anything.

the several things that i have found that are aftermarket for the previa is either, please excuse the term, wack body kits, intake adapter plates, and claims of +20hp racing chip on eBay.

is it worth it to try to start a new fab? most custom thing i've seen in the bay area with a previa is either some ugly aftermarket wheels, or just having decals all over the car, to just having a LeBra on it.

i plan on either trying to find a lip kit for it, find a new or used, but good condition rear bumper, redo the exhaust with mandrel bent 2.25" - 2.5" piping, to some sort of N1 style exhaust. preferbly with my titanium tip i have in my garage. repair most of the damage, and repaint it. as for suspension and wheels, i want to lower it about 3 inches, and get some clean 17" - 18" wheels, maybe gunmetal with a polished lip, or just paint the stock alloys gunmetal for now. stereo was somehow killed. the tape/cd doubledin is now not working, and i will have to find either a kit to run a single sized cd player, or find a doubledin to replace it. get aftermarket Speakers all around, sand down, refinnish the headlights, and get some sylvania silverstar lightbulbs in there. fix minor problems around the car (tail light bulbs, brake light bulbs, etc) and maybe paint the "TOYOTA" on the center tail light piece some noticeable clean color, since the old paint on it has gone away.

currently, our (family) van has a bra kit in front, k&n intake filter, some damage on the rear bumper when my mother lend the van to a friend, and some damage here and there. but things can be fixed, but i was just wondering if it would actually be worth it.

i do plan on being different with this van, as i stated all the modifications i plan on doign up there. but i was wondering to what point is it worth, and how people have done it. i have made my 1990 acura integra into a one of a kind car around my area, and friends, so i plan on bringing another vehicle up to be noticed.

thank you

big pimp it, 20" chromes and spinners

you'll get away with it, because you're in california! :D

spinners arent my style.. they'd be kool if i had a older domestic, but for the previa, naw.. im tyring to make the previa into a van that me and people in my team can cruise around in, go to shows in if we dont want to drive seperate cars, and such. be able to rep our team name, and be proud of what we roll in..

but everywhere i go, and all my friends always ask me, "you got whistler tips on there?" cause the previa always has some type of whistle when you get on the gas.. i never found out what that was either..

TRD do a lot of parts for it, they do stuff from springs/shocks, to full body kits. They all look good, have a search in google for trd previa, should find some good stuff. I may be going the new style previa route, purely as not many people do it!

Oh yeh, and get a 3S-GTE in there! :D

well, if your gonna do it - do it right...

Take the 4.7 V8 block (from the Tundra and LX470), get it mouted central in the chassis (in front of the rear wheels) - you'll probably need a custom gearbox.. ensure its RWD..

Then just lower, stiffen and smooth... so it looks good - oh, and goes like a little black flying thing out of a very hot place...
