whatever oil you choose , be sure to get a genuine toyota oil filter as it has a non return valve built in , which keeps the oil up top and only allows the oil into the sump as the engine cools. they are around £ 10 but well worth it .

I`m using Mobil synthetic in my GT4 but in the past with N/A cars i`ve tended to use Castrol Magnatex. Never had a problem with it.

As Maleborn points out make sure you use genuine Toyota filters.:thumbsup:

The non return valve ensures the filter stays full of oil, so next time the engine is turned over, there is an instant supply of oil to the engine.

Magnatec has excellent cold start performance, minimising engine wear when the engine is cold (I know this from independent tests, not the marketing hype). Mobil 1 is regarded as slightly better for a warm engine.

The general consensus nowadays, is that semi synthetic oils are barely any better than mineral oils (they only have 1 to 2% synthetic component).

The best stuff to use is fully synthetic oil, but it ain't cheap. Halfords was recently selling Castrol SLX at half price (usually £31.99 for 5 litres), but I think that offer has ended.
