Help With Basic Tunning

Hey wondering if any one can help me with a few things just got a TT and wanna do a few tweaks with out spending to much for the time being.

I want to put two induction kit's on it (it only has on and the other in stock) But I’ve heard that it's best to leave it stock (is this true or will a second induction give me a bit more BHP??)

+ I had it on the boost gauge and it's only boosting at one bar, what the safe amount to increase it to with out having to worry about blowing the head or turbo??

And last but not least I’ve heard you can get a stage one upgrade for about £400 is it worth it and what does it include??

Any help would be great!!

The stock boost levels for a mk4 is 0.8 bar thus you must have a modification somewhere already making it boost to 1bar.

You can have 1 or 10 induction kits but at the end of the day you want to get as much cool air in and as little warm air.

Its personal preffrence and the make of induction kit. Cheap induction kits that dont flow well may mean you need two but a good single induction kit will do.

1.2bar is a safe level to run at i hear, im going to boost up to 1.2bar after the new year.

Stage 1?? Do you mean the turbo? You need to be more specific

Thanks for the info.

i'll have to look about the induction kit's it's got a green filter in at the moment but that's only connected to one of the intakes, I'll probably get another one in, as some times the car is more lively then others and that's the only thing i can think of is the second intake restricting the flow of air.

As for the stage 1 upgrade i'll have to find out. it think it's an ecu upgrade but i'll let you know.

Thanks again

Might as well upgrade to 2 filters dude, just get a heat shield for them or something, make sure the air getting to them is as cold as possible :)

Right cheers for that. I’ll look into that.

Had a look at the turbos, doesn’t seem to be a bleed valve so i guess I’ll have to do it electronically. I'll let you know how it turns out. Eventually I’ll be spending some serious money on the engine, but at the moment the rest of the car need some TLC.

The stock airbox in a MKIV has been proven of supporting airflow up to about 500BHP. So if your car is exceeding this then, yes you may want to change your airfilter arrangement.

The stock box is also very good at keeping the inlet charge nice and cool.

does this mean that a hks etc... airfilter is a waste of money?

Yes, unless you have future plans or like the sound of an induction kit.

Better off buying a performance element for the stock box, not that those are that necessary at BPU levels.

i heard you cant increase the boost on the standard turbo’s, it's gotta be done electronically.

But i heard you can get a manual boost valve off e BAY for about £30, Any one else know of this??
