Don't know much about diesels but I remember that when my dad was a mechanic you had to set the fuel pump timing too, not just the valve timing. Is it possible that your fuel pump is pumping deisel through the injectors at the wrong time?? Maybe its 180 degrees out of phase

when you took off the crank pulley connected to pump did you marked and make sure it was aligned before removing it????

If not you will have to turn egine by hand to realign pulleys with correct markings and re do timing belt.

Oh did you mess with pump some pumps are fixed make sure if it is 3cte speed sensor cable is connected middle one!

other than i have no idea what i am talking about or do i hmmmm
