Depends if facelifted model or not either way both unclip from the bottom a good pull from under cigar lighter. Dead easy but gotta be brave and carefull at same time.

the pre august 2000 cars have a regular single din size cassette the post aug 2000 cars have an integrated screen and cd player with a silver or wood effect surround.

both should unclip the same way (I have changed a cassette player in the pre 00 avensis and fitted a car kit to the post 00 avensis it really is easy)
