Celica Rattling Noise Help

hey guys,

I would appreciate it if someone can help with me with current problem. Recently i bought a 1996 manual Model celica SX, usually when i move gears up but under-reving, the engine bay seems to be rattling like *tick tick tick tick* , that also happens when i over-rev the can abt 4,000rpm in gears 1 , 2 and 3.

Can someone please tell me whats wrong, thanks

SX?? I didn't know there was an SX - there is an ST and an SR

Could be the Alternator - they make a bit of ticking noise as they start to go sometimes

best thing to do, lift the hood, incease throttle using throttle body arm and get yer ear into that bay. might be a whole host of things. you'll find it mate>

nah that doesn't work

cause the noise only makes it when i'm in gear and moving

at netrual it doesn't make the rattling noise

Could be one of the heat shields vibrating then

jack up the front and put it in first gear and rev it then .
