All answers seem to be regards the router when theres no need....

If not already sorted look in the Network Settings on PCA & PCB and manually add an IP address to both of the hardwired network cards by right clicking on them and chosing properties, theres no need for DHCP/Gateway's etc...

Just set the IP addy's as 10.0.0.1 on one, 10.0.0.2 on the other and the subnets both to 255.255.255.0 and you should then be able to type 'ping 10.0.0.1' from the command line on the .2 machine and vica versa....

Just give all NIC cards, whether wireless or CAT5, static IP addresses using the same subnet mask.

You won't need any routing tables, or the router to farm out IP addresses via DHCP.

You should be able to play the game over the wireless network, with no need for the second NICs in PCA and PCB.

With a second NIC in the PC you have made it multi-homed and start introducing binding order issues for IP traffic.

Get it sorted over the wireless network... kind of defeats the purpose otherwise, eh?!!!

You could always join them in to a local workgroup as well.

As you won't be running a DNS server on your network, you may need to get into the realms of good ol' hosts files for netbios resolution if your game requires a PC name to be identified as the host... normally though you can just put in the hosts ip address. You shouldn't have to do this though. Windows XP is pretty good for home networking... supposed to be simple to set up!!! ;)

I suspect your problem may very well be ZoneAlarm. Turn it off temporarily, after disconnecting from the internet, and re-test basic network communication between all PCs.

DON'T SET UP RAS ON YOUR PC!!! :D
