What does 'IMHO' stand for?? Sorry not much good with abbreviations! :)

Dont get me wrong im not slating the original EFI system , think its great, its just that when you get to around 150bhp its a little restictive!

So if you go webers or throttle bodies, you have got direct and completely straight air ways, straight in2 the ports!

Sorry 'In My Honest Opinion' :D

The intake manifold should handle more than 150BHP (N/A) , I think the most restrictive bit will be the throttle body itself and the TVIS, both of which can be doctored. It definitely does on a 4AGTE, different kettle of fish I know!

Either way I think it's a !Removed! expensive project

Off topic, nice motor Trueno!

and dont forget that over all BHP sells cars.....Torque wins races...... you'd be better off with a 4age and diff gearbox ;)

Damn right, that and removing every ounce of surplus weight!

Although I don't think there's much choice in fwd gearboxes for the 4AGE, I don't have a lot of experience in that field :( (Hell I'm a Toxicologist by trade). I think drive train modifications for this particular application will require a new thread! :D

Got ya! :)

Sorry thats what i ment! I have no doubt the manifold is incapable, but the throttle body will be! So to me it would be easier to remove all of it and start again! (e.g. throttle bodies)

But your definatly right about the !Removed! expensive bit!

I wouldnt want to tell you the amount of money ive spent on engines in the past!

Thanks for the comment about my car! She will look even better when ive finished her! (Shes a bare Shell at the mo!)

Whats one of them then!:huh: :P

Toxicology = study of the adverse health effects of chemicals (in a nutshell) :D

I was looking at the Trueno/levin instead of the MK1 MR2 but went for the 2 cos I found a nice one first! Currently researching/gathering bits for a 4AGTE which is going to be nice and expensive but I'm in it for the experience!

Cool! :D

I wish my job title sounded cool like that! Thats why i always call myself a Vehicle Technician instead of a mechaninc, but it always ends up like this.......

Vehicle Technician = Grease Monkey! (in a nutshell!) hehe!:lol:

Ive always been tempted with a Mk1 MR2, but wet weather has always poped into the conclusion, and ive had a few bad experiences in the wet in MR2's! :)

Their not predictable like the Corolla for a bit of sideways fun! But theyre still cracking in the dry!

Talking about turbo charging a 4AGE, the company i purchased my 20 valve engine from developed a turbo charged 4AGE! Using a 4AGZE motor and using most of its ancillaries! They only had a small turbo on it and it pulled very close to 200 bhp without messing around with anything like cams etc!

Give them a ring if you want any help! They had all the manifolds etc made to bolt on easily! But not sure if they've started selling them as a unit yet! Worth a call though i reakon!

What's the maximum compression that 4age's pistons can handle?

Also can you propose me a piston forged kit tha can handle about 11-12compression?

www.ariaspistons.com do forged pistons, I'll be getting a set of low compression ones for my 4AGTE, I think they do high compression ones as well. I have a 4AGE running 200psi compression in the Mk1 at the moment, I don't know how that translates to compression ratio (0.8mm TRD head gasket and a skim of the head) but it runs nicely. Tere are plenty of other companies that do forged pistons for the 4AGE, many are in the States TODA racing is one (www.todaracing.com).

Trueno, I didn't realise Raw had made a tubby 4AGE, I'm looking at fitting a T3 to a manifold from the states (www.4agte.com). I was going to build a Seven type car for the 4AGTE but I think the power to weight ratio would be close to suicidal for me! You should try the Mk1 in the snow :lol::eek:

Cant remember what compression i was running but i had a TRD 0.8 headgasket and also skimmed the head and the block! Trust me them valves were close!

Gave it some serious bark out the exhaust tho!

Crazy b@stard! hahaha :lol::lol:

I will give that one a miss! My Hillman Imp was always amusing in the snow, especially when it got up on the cam mid corner! :D

Did you have the head and block polished before you put the head gasket in? I've heard they don't last long if you don't (mine's lasted the year so far touch wood).

Got caught in the snow last year driving home from work in my old Mk1 coupe with very low springs and KYB shocks, must have been 10cm in as many minutes. Took awhile to get used to it (feather light throttle control) but roundabouts were lots of fun!

Sorry CorollaGTI lots of off topic stuff!

I had the block and head skimmed to a very high standard, which was as good as polished! Thanks to my dad, the engineer! :)

Its lasted over a year now, and i done 6 track days and drove it everyday, so she was always on the limiter (7800rpm) apart from cold! Im not that mean!

But that engine is now redundant, due to the 20 valve transplant! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! :)

Nice one, i will have to print that lot out! :)

My 20v is a silver top bottom end, due to they are stronger with a black top head! Running with a complete Omex engine management system, shold be good for around 160bhp! Which is enough for me at the moe! I imagine i mite get tempted to slap a turbo on it when i need more power!

what is going to cost me for a full rebuilt of an 4age 16v non-tvis engine!

And also what other parts i have to change or other modification in order to get 160-170bhp?

Camshafts(???)

Forged pistons

head modification

head gasket set

bigger fuel pump

what else and also what's the price of the following?

Finally can you propose me what kind of camshafts, forged pistons etc??
