Before And After Photos Of Karis

This is Karis before..... she was so beautiful, the Apple of my eye and the cream in my coffee. 10 months and 7000 miles into her short but wonderful life....

And this is Karis now..... look at what those (expletive deleted)'s did to my precious car

The front of her, as you can see is mashed (to put it nicely!), insurers say it would cost £6,500 at least to fix (thats almost the cost of a brand new Yaris T2!) so therefore has been declared a total write off. The back end of her is perfect, so 3/4 of the car is mint, its just the front and the engine bay!

She will now be sold as scrap, so I'm hoping she might be a spares Yaris for other cars who need new doors or something - a donor car as my friend put it, which is a really nice way of thinking about it. Its sad she is gone, but her "death" could help other Yarii who need parts etc

I was so sad to say goodbye to her today, but I was pleased I got to say goodbye.

Now I am concentrating on getting a replacement, which all being well the insurance will provide for me.

So you never know, if your Yaris needs a new door or something, it could well be donated from my Karis! You never know! So hopefully, she will live on!

Yeah, mine looked a bit like that too, but my airbags didn't go off and the windscreen only had one long crack up the passenger side...

Thankfully I didn't see her in daylight after the accident - a guy from my Dad's company went in and removed everything that he could (except the handbook  )

Mine was slightly older than yours (27th Feb) and had done 16,000 miles and I managed to get a brand new one so make sure that you hold out for that at least!

Hope you're feeling better!

Cheers,

Alan

That is such a saddening sight and knowing this is caused by some lowlife ****ers.

I hope your insurance co. will sort you out with a brand spanking new Yaris soon. It'll prolly never be able to let you forget about Karis but I'm sure you'll love it just as much.

Yves.

She stood up well though considering the speeds involved in the crash, didn't she?

Aww, and you'd kept her so clean and shiny.

It'll soon be sorted though. Good luck for you and your new car.

Ouch!

If you look at the front doors, they're still intact... extremly good considering the speed! Glad iv got a Yaris now... excellent crash protection!

Hope all works out well in the end!

Tis a crying shame :crybaby: We all share your sadness. :(

But on a brighter note. When i eventually go to meet my maker, I`m going to ask to come back as an indicator bulb...... Check it out. 100mph smash and the bulbs still intact. Tough little bleeder.

That sux :( I was just looking at my Yaris today, when its parked, in shop windows when driving by, and I thought - i love this car. Lets just say I never stopped to look at my Fiesta in the same way!

Sorry to see your Yaris in that state DA. Hopefully your next car will have as much soul and love as Karis - i bet she had a bit of a devilish streak at times too ;) Maybe your next one will be a little more placid or maybe a bit more cheeky!

You just have to get another Yaris D.A!

After looking at the photos (which are really good by the way) I’m really impressed with how it stood up to the impact.

I suppose you get what you pay for in life, especially in this case. You bought a quality car and it has served you well.

Did you notice the seatbelts in any way? (pre tensioners & load limiters).

If that was an old nova or old Fiesta without all the features you find on a Yaris, I’m sure the story would be horribly different.

Now I’m looking forward to seeing your new one, Karis II.

Wow that looks really bad. I'm so glad that you weren't seriously hurt there my friend. It's just to prove that the yaris is a tough little cookie and it can take a hell of a wack. If that was another car it might of not taken the blow so well and you could have been seriously hurt.

I think that you should buy another yaris again as you know that they are safe cars and karis probably saved your life there

Just noticed: nab that TOC Gold Sticker while you can!

I think that TOC should send you a "Special" TOC Gold "Survivors" sticker free of charge.

So pleased that you survived that........well done Karis

that impact was no way near 100mph, me and my father have being repairing write offs for years, him about 30. at least its not in that bad a condition. prolly a cat c/d write off.

Glad someone else thought that.... I agree. If it was 100mph then you wouldn't have walked away....and the car would be half the size it is.

However...if the joy rider you hit you was driving a car made of tin-foil...perhaps...

Astra though wasn't it..or something similar?

Not taking anything away, damn damn fortunate. And the Yaris held up brilliantly..as already said the drivers "cage" has hardly moved...foot well.sterring wheel etc all in place give or take a few cm's. Doors still open...pretty good really.

What surprises me most though is the main frontal crumple beam (second messed up Yaris down) It's totally in tact...everything has kinda been ripped away from it...and it doesn't seem to have taken any brunt at all...which reinforces the fact that if that didn't take away the impact... then the thin body work/engine did..and if so...not much of an impact really do to that kind of damage.

100mph though.....more like a combined 40-50.

Well thats what the police recorded the speed as but no ones sure - I know I was doing 40 as its a 40mph road and they were definately going faster than that. The eye witnesses - one in front of me and one behind both told the police it was at least 60 round the corner and apparently they had been speeding at about 70-80 down the A5 (which is 50mph limit) according to another eye witness, but no one knows the real speed they were doing when they hit me - its a police "estimate"

They still hit me though - regardless of speed, they still acted like morons - and they still wrote my precious car off - and the other car aswell, which was a Ford Focus ST170, which is a much more expensive car than mine and probably the Apple of its owners eye aswell!

I really hope they get caught and punished - anyone who drives like that IMHO doesnt deserve to have a licence (not that they probably did - they were kids). But its the innocent people who seem to get punished, by insurers and the like, for other peoples pure insanity behind the wheel of a car. :ffs:

Its people like that who the bloody police and cameras need to catch - not the average joe doing 5-10 mph over the limit! :censor:

Anyway I am getting a new Yaris, this time in Carlo Blue, another T-Spirit, hopefully before Christmas. Hopefully this car I will have and be happy with for many years - its just such a shame you never know what will happen from day to day - it could have been anyone they hit, unfortunately it was me but I'd rather that it was me and not a pedestrian or a car with a baby or a child on board - it just doesnt bear thinking about.

Mucho respect for how you've dealt with this.

Good on you.

I'm actually a bit of a wreck off the forums - I cry like a girl all the time for no reason and I'm in pain more or less 24/7!

But I dont believe in letting any of these little :censor: 's get me down - I'm not going to let some 15-16 year old social outcast stop me from driving and enjoying driving and my car(s).

I was even thinking of car names today for my new one (typical bird eh - how sad am I!) lol - oh leave me alone, I've been through a lot, finding car names brings me comfort! :D

I always like the name my sister gave to her car....

Ceefa.

as in..... C for car..

always made me chukle...but thats what she calls it.

Now before I got my toyota...all my cars were referenced by "C'mon...start ya %$^$"

How are things insurance wise? will you be able to claim from the "victims" fund as it were?
