All avensis cars should have a prewired loom in to left hand side of boot (N/S) under carpet. there you should find connectors for sat nav and cd changer. You will need a GPS aerial aswell which plugs in to the smallest socket at the rear of the tns 200. Having said that the SR may not have one but i'm pretty sure it does.

Give it a bash and let me know

cheers

P.s. I know which item you bought on eBay. nice one  and if the loom is there it should be a 30 sec job to install.

That is interesting! So behind the panel on the N/S (where you can turn the catch and open up a little cubby hole') there should be pre-wiring for a changer!

Makes life easy to DIY fit a changer. Thing is, which changer will work with a 2004 Avensis head unit?

not in the cubby hole, under the boot carpet on the n/s there should be the loom sticking out of the wheel arch.

what has toyota quoted for exactly?

Speak to an ICE specialist you could fit the gear under the passenger seat (Just) and have shortened wiring to the floor maybe even custom made. Another option is to go to a scrap yard and rip out a loom from an old car. All GS GLS & CDX will def have the loom to the boot.

Regards
