Hello,

I am currently in the process of buying new suspension for my toyota corolla gt coupe and would preferrably like a set of koni adjustable shocks.

However i have been told that these shocks are inserts and i must use the original strut.

Does anyone have any experience of this or recommendations??

Cheers,

All front shockers available for AE86's are inserts that i know of! Due to it isnt worth suspension companies re-manufacturing Strut legs! Damn expensive getting castings made with the stub axle etc!

Its really easy to fit inserts! First remove top mount and the spring (with a spring compressor) once thats off you just got to undo the big threaded ring(sometimes hexagonal!) holding the original insert in! Pull it out and then fit the new one! Simple!

thanks Treuno,

Are the back shocks inserts, one autofactors told me that they were while fensport say that only the front shocks are inserts, while the rear are legs??

Fensport are correct! The rears are just a leg and bolt right in! Really easy and straight froward!

Ive got Bilstein all round on mine and are great shockers! Compliment the springs well!

what kind of money u chattin for bilistein??

i can get top adjustable koni for 420euro, but not too sure what make of lowering spring to use,

the fensport konis are only adjustable off car,

I paid £100 for front shockers(each) and £80 for rear(each)! There not adjustable, but i dont find i need to adjust the damping affect! If they are good enough for Bilstein they are good enough for me!

And then got some custom made springs from Fensport!

But i also run TRD anti-role bars, Fully poly bushed suspension! Concentric top mounts, adjustable panhard rod, neg chamber RCA's!

All that gives one !Removed! hard ride! But it depends what you intend the car for! As my car is for track days/ sprints and hillclimbs i need a hard ride! But it is way to hard for road rally's because it is to skitish and bounces around evreywhere!

that would be a bit too solid for me, i want some degree of comfort but also better handling for the road.
