Hi,

I have the chance to buy a 1987 Celica GT.

It was purchased from new (£11000) and has been stored for about the last 10 years, with limited milage each year. The car has covered 30k.

I would like to know what engine is likly to be in this car and also performance.

Also what to look out for when we go and have a look and test drive.

Cheers

Chris

look at the wheel arches and around the sunroof area they are prone to rust there.

Engine is an injected 1998cc 3S-GE inline four dohc

147bhp at 6400rpm

max 130mph :)

what other performance figures do you need if any? I've have a full spec sheet. ;)

Although someone'll probably dispute them

Excellent cars in their day, and still good now

I HAVE A 1989 CELICA GT AND IT IS THE BEST FUN I HAVE EVER HAD IN A CAR. AS FOR RELIABILITY I HAVE DONE 20.000 MILES IN MY ONE AND I ONLY GOT IT IN OCTOBER LAST YEAR. PLEASURE TO DRIVE VERY RELIABLE AND AS FAST AS. TOTALLY RECOMEND ONE. GOOD LUCK :D

:hokus-pokus: Great car. its not 147bhp what ? with the hand break on mabye. It's about 147- 165bhp. if you work it out from the torque.

As for 130mph - Easy- 140.8mph.

Great car well worth any money. But just a quick warning.

The parts are harder to get hold of if you break it. There like rocking horse :censor: *t!

I have a 1987 gen4 fwd 2.0 gt and it went to 135MPH with some revs left to go, she has the same 3s-ge engine DOHC, i will recomend looking at the arches and sunroof as stated as my arches are rusty(only surface rust mind) and the sunroof is starting to flake. My gen4 is totaly standard, my chassis no./model no. is ST165?. I find that i get best acceleration between 3800rpm and 5800rpm.:thumbsup:
