You can find the specs on the toyota uk website. They have had a facelift since 2000, but you'd do well to spot the difference.

Its a pretty good car all round. One or two little niggles though. Check the alloy wheels for bubbling paint, and idler pullys on the auxiliary drive belt are prone to wearing (not expensive to fix though). They have also issued a recall for a potential brake problem, but I think the car you are looking at falls outside the affected dates.

The price sounds a bit high though. There are cars on the 'trader of a similar age and mileage starting at around £7.5k. Is your price from a dealer? Remember, it's a buyers market this time of year.

I don't really want to go for this one now.

I have been looking at the 190 Celica on a 2001 '51' plate with 23,000 miles. It is about £12500 with the same dealer which I think is overpriced - what ya think it should be going for??????? Link >>>>>>

That car you're looking at isn't W reg, it's an '02 plate (that happens to begin with the letter W :D ) and it's £10,850 - unless they've recently sold a W reg for £9700 with exactly the same mileage/colour/spec :)

Neither are the facelifted model, which was introduced in mid 2002 I believe.

(the pre-facelift model is fine IMO).

Test drive both, just beware that to get the extra power of the VVTL-i engine you have to rag it over 6K rpm

You're quite correct about the W reg bit. My typo......

And the price does refer to that car only as of yesterday they had reduced it to the price I stated but not changed it on their website.

Anyway, not interested in that one now. If I get a Celica it would have to be a 190 for the extra lil bit of power. The 140 is reputadley way too timid.

Depends what you're used to I suppose, I had the 140bhp version and was very happy with it. But then again I did have a 114bhp gen6 Celica before that :D
