if it's rev2+ .. you'll not even need to calibrate it ..

Why's that?

because they are electronic, so when one points to 110, they all point to 110.

(110 being the smallest dial on some NA imports, then UK 160's then turbo 180's)

:help: Right explain this to me again Bibbs.

I have an N/A Uk Spec Rev 2

The dials on it are 160 mph

The new dials are after market and go to a max of 180 mph

so if i fit the new dials how will i not need to recalibrate surely it would mean that 30mph on the new dials would mean i wasn't doing 30mph according to my cars original dials.

I'm really confused here :wacko::wacko::wacko::wacko::wacko::wacko:

Any help greatly appreciated. :help::help::help::help:

nope, cause it's not a cable speedo (you would be right if it was just the face). I take it you are swapping the whole unit over?

if it's just the face, then you will :yes:

Right I was going to take the dials out of the unit and put them into mine not transplant the whole unit. This would mean the milage would be wrong. So the way I have explained it is right according to what i'm going to do?

yeah, but I have no idea how you would calibrate it .. be easier to change the mileage and then swap the unit.

You'd make a few bob out of the 160 speedo too ..

The unit with the new dials is out of a g-limited 1991/ Would it still read in km's? Is it easy enough to wind the clock on the new one back??(not in illegal terms)Also would this affect my immobiliser in any way as there is no LED visible on the new unit?

Cheers Bibbs.

geez, now you are asking :D

The 91 migt be a problem as it could be a rev1 (with cable driven speedo).

Without having a look I'm not too sure.

Best thing to do, is post what you have, i.e.

160mph speedo - UK car.

180kmph speedo - Jap NA car.

180mph dials .. etc .. just so I get the gist .. (revisions would help too).

And clocking is a doddle if you look into it ..

An import 180kph speedo will top out at 110mph if fitted to a UK car. If fitted with 180mph dials, you'll need to add a speedo converter/delimiter as the UK and the import sensors give out the same number of pulses per rev from the gearbox, and the import speedo maxes at 180kph/112mph.

You can easily fit a UK 160mph speedo in your import (we have a 160mph UK speedo in our rev 4 turbo) but if you go the other way (ooooer) you have to fit the converter/delimiter to make it read right.

Unfortunately fitting a UK speedo does NOT delimit your car and you still need the converter/delimiter. It does however make it much more difficult as you need to make sure you get the one that connects to the ECU and not the speedo.
