Yaris 1.0l T3

Ok. So I drove my mates cover car today. The Yaris 1.0L T3. And well... no offence, but I do feel a bit sorry for you people driving 1L's. I punched it in first and where was the power!? Managed to get some wheelspin round a corner - but nothing much :) lol.

Its high riding, the clutch felt terrible and the biting point was too high, gears we notchy, and the interior was uninspiring.

Don't get me wrong - its still a great car for what it is, but the TS feels like its in a different league compared to it - even though its the same make!

The T-Sport is a totally different ride compared the stand Yaris.

When I first got in it I couldn’t believe it was from the same manufacturer and the ‘same’ model.

It feels firm heavy sporty and as though it would stick to the road like glue. Being Japanese built there are a lot of nice touches and the whole experience is very satisfying.

See, I have been detered from buying a T Sport just because I thought it would be near enough the same as my 1.0l (within in reason), I can't seem how it could be soo different..

Time for a test drive Mr T.. ;)

No chance!

Problem is, if you go for a test drive you will want one!

I don't know about anyone else here but all I can see in the first post is

"Na ne na na 1.0L T3 Na ne na na na na na T-Sport Na nenenene na na neeny-na"

1.0L T3 = £7,995 mid spec shopping trolley

1.5L T-Sport = £12,245 sporting, warm hatchback

Please note that the intent of the T-Sport is somewhat different and that it costs about 1.5 times as much as a T3...

Now, where's that form I saw posted earlier...

A

PS why do we keep having these "my T-Sport is better than your "normal" Yaris threads?

Spot on mate! was having a similar discusiion with s0cks last night when he commented that i should have got a Vitz RS instead of a Vitz 1.0l...It's all i could afford, and i really can't complain about it one bit. Well ok, just one complaint, but that's gonna get sorted in summer!

Hey hey hey - i don't want to start a slaggin match!

As I said - its still a great car for what it is (i.e. cheap, ecenomic, versitile). I just wanted to state how 'different' it felt compared to the T-Sport.

You could take it all the way and say that the Celica T-Sport is way better than the Yaris T-Sport. I was just surprised in the difference - and if you have the money - I would recommend the upgrade.

BTW Yaris T-Sports don't have to be expensie - mine was £6500 :) I pay it off monthly.

Chill.

Peace out.

Go down the middle... 1.3SR!!

It's got the sportiness, weightiness and the little touches of the T-sport, has it's own brilliant suspension, perfect steering and gearbox, just about enough ooomph (for a 19yr old) and the alloys are gleaming perfection.

Plus, it's pretty cheap, has low insurance and good MPG! It's belting!

:D  :D

I can see where you are coming from Alan, it could be perceived like that but I’m sure its not, but it may be because people love there cars, this is my second Yaris due to the fact my first one was such a great motor.

Where else can people talk about their cars and what they have done to them and how they drive?

Same could be said about mods, I personally can’t afford bigger wheels and tyres, induction kits, body kits, tints strut braces etc, but people go on about that sort of stuff every day.

I love to see their cars and what the next mod has been and that’s why I joined this forum. I’m sure other members don’t get upset because they can’t have these things.

Shopping trolley or warm hatch, either way, everyone’s a winner.

He he he he ...

I am a 1L Vitz driver and I am telling u guys ,,, The car is a joke ...

I don't have the guts to pass an amber light with it <_<

I always fear that the car wont make it in time before the red light is on, which is a good thing since I Loooooooooooooove passing amber lights . And this is giving my mother a peice of mind.

As it's said .. for it's price its a good car ...

If I wasn't a student and worried about insurance prices (Ireland has one of the highest insurance prices in the EU) I would have gotten a bigger more capable car ...

But anyway I Love Moi car :D

Over here in Canada, we only get a 1.5 in all versions

So my wife's base model, while having a less sporting interior/exterior still has the same ooomph as my top-line RS model with all the trimmings...

Eliminates the mine is quicker than yours matches...

Cheers

Ok i ve driven both the 1L and t-sport. i have to say yeah the t-sport is great(ie thats what i have) but for a reasonably priced car the 1L is a top notch car. yes the t-sports better but it costs more to purchase and run and to insure. they are aimed at different people!! i drove the 1L for 1 1/2ys and t-sport 6 months. they are both good cars ie my mum wouldnt swap her 1L yaz and i wouldnt swap my t-sport. hey we all bought toyotas (yaris). so we are all one step ahead of most car owners who don t. its all cool peps you bought a toyota!!! 1 :D

well I modded mine and I wouldnt swap it for the t-sport basically because of the insurance and tax hikes in ireland plus Ive a lot of things done to the car..too much hassle

the 1.0 is a great run around, that's all.

also a good car to learn in, i know of a few young lads who've been given tsports as their first cars and they've been written off within a year.

there are better supermini's than the yaris now however, and the tsport is far too expensive as a new car for what it is.

Topgear said only the Hinda Jazz was better than the yaris!

persoanlly i'm going for a Lupo GTI next. now theres an overpriced small car! ............But they are the closest thing to a go kart on the road

For my 1st year of motoring i was driving a 796cc Matiz! And that thing was like a go-kart! If you havn't driven one... have a go, it really is quite fun. No where near as good as my SR, but for a 1st time driver, a lowly engine is the best place to start, therefore, i am going to say that the 1.0l Yaris is better than t-sport in the 1st year of somebody driving.

Unless somebody else is paying the bills... i dont have that luxury! Very poor!

Sorry sOcks, I didn't maen it as a slagging match - the "Na ne nan na" bit was meant tongue-in-cheek...

What I was trying to say (and didn't do very well) was that the T-Sport was aimed at a very different audience to the normal cars.

Sorry for any offence

Cheers,

Alan

Oh yeah! Meant to say that the T-Sport isn't necessarily the perfect car for everybody...

I know what you mean. Im looking to get it as my 2nd car. Would of been driving for 2yrs then so I think il be okay.

Hopefully, get one for my 19th Birthday, or a lump of money to help me pay for one anyway.

Love the car, its just so different and Japanese and well built. What more do you need?

Also not too common, unlike Corsa, 306, etc which every youngerster has.

I have a 1.0L T3 and it has a great amount of power to me...

Yes it's not as big engined as the T-Sport but it moves, I have managed to outrun a few cars at traffic lights and alongside them up hills too..it has electric windows, power steering, CD Player etc which for me..as my 2nd car is in my price range, hasn't got any hidden secrets like my 1st car had and is dirt cheap to run and insure.

I want to get a T-Spirit next but will still be keeping with the 1.0L engine.

I have no complaints about it!:thumbsup:

Name any road and I'd take you on it bar a motorway or dual carriageway!

You'd beat me on the straights but I'd be away on the corners! :D
