ok ive been whining a lot recently about my brakes and so on, errr, no its about my engine. erm, k....basically the engine makes a weird whistling sound whenever i rev the car when driving or when stepping on the throttle in idle. it kinda sounds as if there was some loose bolt or something that resonates between 2000 - 4000rpm. i mean i may just be paranoid but i never heard the whistling before...

im thinking it may be the spark plugs i put in, cause i just put em in and didnt measure out the torque or anything, i just tightened them to what i thought felt right, but i dunno, let me know i suppose!

hi riko, does your cars fan belt squeal (evena tiny/quiet bit) when you first start your car if so mine was and it started to whistle a tiny bit occasionally when flooring it - to sort I just tighntened up th fan belt a bit and that sorted it.

while you are they you could always replace the belt as they do slip more when they are old and worn.

my mate had a strange whistling noise coming from his car a couple of months back, and it turned out to be a hairline split in one of the hoses off the head... not sure if this will apply for a seo thou. <_<

Yeah could be a split vaccum hose, could also be timing belt tensioner if its worn :(

Wouldn't say it would whistle though <_<

Get it checked out to be on the safe side

well i have a bit of a result.....i assumed it mightve been a loose spark plug (gas blow-by causing the whistle) and today i took out the spark plug boots, and 3 out of the 4 spark plugs were quite loose, so i just tightened them, went out for a drive to warm up the engine, then did a few fast drives to listen out, and it seems to be gone !! (the whistling that is!) but the exhaust still does whistle when i listen with my door open....hmmmm
